I have been working at McKinsey & Company

    Pros

Benefits, people, Great people to work with and travel is always very flexible. Compensation rises quickly compared to other industry positions

    Cons

Work life balance is challenging. Travel is good the first few months but then it gets really boring and you yearn for abnormal life style

I worked at McKinsey & Company full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Talented and diverse colleagues from all over the world. Great professional culture that emphasizes high-quality client service and personal development of its consultants. A place with high-minded values that generally lives up to its standards. Unrivalled opportunities to serve top clients on their top issues, and to travel and live overseas if you want.

    Cons

Client service is demanding: You'll work long hours and travel extensively. Lots of nights at the office and away from home. OK (fun, even) for young & childless types, but tough for those with families or serious interests outside work.

    I worked at McKinsey & Company full-time

    Pros

Truly distinctive colleagues. They are, without question, the most incredible group of people assembled in one organization, and not just because they are all so smart and accomplished. Almost everyone there really wants to be there and wants to help others be there. Although attrition is high, there is not a sense that everyone is "fighting for the top job."

    Cons

Very long hours, very demanding problems to solve, and very high performance expectations.

I worked at McKinsey & Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There are many pros to working at McKinsey. I would go for the experience of working there for a few years, but not try to make a career out of it - Really smart people - Challenging problems - Learn McK problem solving and communication

    Cons

It's not the kind of place that you want to make a career out of: - Very political - Clients are all B or C players (remember that the A players don't need consultants) so don't go there if you want to work on cutting-edge issues - Senior management looks at people as capacity - Travel is unsustainable

I have been working at McKinsey & Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Best people to work with I've ever come across. Unbelievable opportunities to solve difficult problems for clients and build long lasting relationships

    Cons

There is a lot of travel and can be exhausting year after year. There are opportunities to improve the work life balance, however.

I have been working at McKinsey & Company

    Pros

McK has an excellent reputation in the business community and clients come in respecting you. In addition, McK maintain a great density of talented coworkers

    Cons

Senior management is not particulary skilled in the art of management -- requiring employees to constantly worry that the smallest error will sink their career
