    Positive Outlook

I have been working at McKinsey & Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Opportunity to work on a variety of engagements in different industries and function with some of the best clients within the Industry Very heavy emphasis on your professional growth and performance improvement. Focus on client impact is extreme and acute

    Cons

Extensive travel demands especially on engagements requiring heavy onsite client interactions (but the learning opportunities far outweigh the travel overheads)

I have been working at McKinsey & Company for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay, good people/culture, flexibility to work from home.

    Cons

The treatment of contractors is kind of horrible even though we are paid well. It is like being drug along for years by someone not committed to actually marrying you even if you are extremely good at what you do.

I worked at McKinsey & Company

    Pros

Smart, driven co-workers. Truly global focus of all work (no 'headquarters').

    Cons

Flat organizational structure can be hard to explain outside the organization (i.e., lack of traditional 'promotions' and title changes even as your career progresses and responsibilities grow).

I worked at McKinsey & Company

    Pros

Incredibly smart people, amazing professional development opportunities and the best benefits package around. For non-consultants, work-life balance is attainable. The firm is very accomodating for those with family and other personal situations. The diversity within the firm is truly impressive. I worked with people from all over the world on a daily basis. A truly global organization with a global focus - not a US firm with overseas offices. Creativity and innovation is rewarded.

    Cons

Compensation for non-consulting staff is just OK. The more senior you get, the less opportunity is available. Takes a long time to acclimate to the distinct McKinsey culture, but it is worth it. McKinsey has it's own style of writing, speaking, presenting, etc. Until you sound like one - you will not be accepted as one.
