I worked at McKinsey & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing people and truly efficient work. Nice pay and benefits. Good exposure to boards of the biggest companies in your country. Perfect job after college, as it's a great learning experience and you will meet the future CEOs of your generation as your colleagues. You will learn how to do an incredible amount of work in little time. From my experience there, you do more work in a day than you would in a week in a regular company. I really want to underline great people, especially at lower levels (up to Engagement Managers, since most of the best ones leave to big companies at this point)

    Cons

A lot of that work is unnecessary and wouldn't be necessary if the AP's and Partners would meet with the team earlier in the project instead of 8 hours before the steering with the client (especially bad if that meeting is at 8am and you meet at midnight...). You get lots of money but won't have time to spend it as a normal day is 8/9am - 11pm on a good project, or 1/2 am on some others. Creativity is not fostered 99% of the cases as it is more efficient to simply apply what other teams around the globe have done to solve a problem. Unless you consider simple problem solving to change the variables for specific cases creative, of course. Remember to think that McKinsey only works with very big companies (mainy because of the high fees), so if the big firms in your country are almost all in the Banking or Insurance industry, like in mine, don't expect to end up doing a project at a super interesting technology company because you probably won't. The most important person is the client, then the firm, then you, so expect to be treated accordingly (schedule-wise mainly) and inform your family and friends that you will "disapear" for some time :)

    Advice to Management

Have better coordination between APs/Partners and the teams: This alone could reduce the workload by at least 20%. Don't evaluate "entrepreneurship" on your employees as your notion of this is cringeworthy.

I have been working at McKinsey & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good Compensation, free breakfast
    Amazing colleagues

    Cons

    Too much Politics
You need to work weekend and overtime otherwise your manager will tell you are not a good team member
Cannot file for holidays until March of 2018
Issues in the past got worst
It is nonstop request from start to end of day, like more than 50+ request waiting

    Advice to Management

Hire smarter managers and eliminate the current ones
Put the right people where they deserve to be, not only the people in your network
