I have been working at McLane Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Keeps you in great physical shape but really tears down joints and impact points of your body. Currently lifting about 125,000 pounds of freight per week.

    Cons

Management is struggling all the time. Used to be all about customer service and now it's all about "get it off the truck". On board cameras taking your picture every time you get cut off and hit the brakes and they say your following to close.

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing. Start caring. Load the trailers like safety does matter.

    Pros

Benefits and Wages were decent. Not worth the stress though.

    Cons

Management stinks. All supervisors care about is going home. Don't care about how many hours you've already worked.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so selfish. At least act like you care about the teammates.

I worked at McLane Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nearly everyone is very friendly, helpful, honest, respectful, transparent, moral, and fair. Strong bonus and 401k match. Great, positive environment to work in. Frequent teammate (employee) appreciation social events (ice cream, popcorn, picnics, cookouts, etc.).

    Cons

Difficult to advance ahead of those with more seniority. Pay and vacation are just average. Promotions are relatively infrequent.

    Advice to Management

    Good job.

I worked at McLane Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent 401K match, usually 1.5 to 1, but only up to 3% of salary.

    Cons

I made it through 2 layoff cycles (aka Reduction in Force) in 7 years there. They have never had a year without making a profit, and will sacrifice anybody as soon as they feel the bottom line threatened. Last layoff in February 2017 of 33 IT staffers included people with more than 20 and 30 years with the company. Watch your back!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the CIO. High on her agenda is breaking glass ceilings and promoting under-qualified people to levels where their incompetency shines.
