I have been working at McLane Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

401k is outstanding! Business is growing and continues to challenge managers to adapt, make quick decisions, and evaluate current strategies through deeper thought processes. Current business growth will allow those willing to grow with the company an opportunity to shine through effective communication and implementation of process improvements. Educational reimbursement program is great and those that want to...

    Cons

This is not really a con but something that should be re-examined. The current scorecard model is a bit dated and should be revamped. Not all DC's are the same and DC to DC comparison and ranking is not very effective in evaluating divisional strategies and/or effectiveness. There is an internal model that divisions can use to evaluate themselves over prior year or period. This should be part of the equation when creating...

    Advice to Management

My advice is positive and not a critique at all. I feel strongly that McLane management is strong and looks out for the teammates. Continue communicating challenges with teammates. Teammates need knowledge to understand why some hours are long or why production rates are a standard. Raise the awareness of the internal customer concept among all teammates. Continue looking at positive ways to compensate teammates either...

    Pros

Pay and benefits are solid. 401k match.

Start thinking about and caring more about what your employees are saying.

    Pros

Sometimes the way things always worked, still work. Old fashioned values and hard work never go out of style. You will experience both here.

    Cons

Sometimes the way things always worked, no longer work. Old fashioned time-off policies and computer systems just might be standing in the way of attracting and maintaining quality employees.

    Advice to Management

Please consider marrying old fashioned values and work ethic standards with improved time-off and flexibility of work schedules for your salaried employees. Your leadership can prove this is possible and profitable.

I have been working at McLane Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

These days, they are fewer and fewer. Insurance benefits are good.

    Cons

Very physical. Long hours. 401 match has been on a steady downward slope. Our recent management regime is focused on numbers and have placed a huge amount of time into finding ways not to pay it's drivers. The number of people leaving the position is growing by the minute. When I started here, this was a job that people wanted. Now we are losing guys with 10-15 year tenure because they feel underappreciated and undervalued.

    Advice to Management

Current immediate management needs to understand that the employees have had enough of your garage and don't appreciate that your are taking more and giving less. To the corporate level management; you have made a mistake in placing Julie and Travis in control of MYDC. This place is in side straights right now. Step in and fix this before it's to late.

I have been working at McLane Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Grade 1 Pay- $15.50 / Starting Pay Grade 2 Pay- $16.50 / 3 months after hire Grade 3 Pay- $18.39 / 13 months after hire Grade 4 Pay- $20.70 / 24 months after hire In my opinion. Grade 1 and Grade 2 Pay levels can be found at other employers that will treat you better and where you will actually like to work with a schedule that you actually like. Once you hit Grades 3 and 4 it just gets hard to leave because you...

    Cons

Everything aside from the pay. Absolutely everything. Management will make you hate your job. You are not a person to them. You are an order selecting robot that can be replaced tomorrow.
