I have been working at McLane Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    401k is outstanding!
Business is growing and continues to challenge managers to adapt, make quick decisions, and evaluate current strategies through deeper thought processes. Current business growth will allow those willing to grow with the company an opportunity to shine through effective communication and implementation of process improvements.
Educational reimbursement program is great and those that want to move up should use it.
Opportunity for growth and advancement if you are willing to go the extra mile, prove your value, be a part of the solution, and understand that we are in a people first business.

    Cons

This is not really a con but something that should be re-examined. The current scorecard model is a bit dated and should be revamped. Not all DC's are the same and DC to DC comparison and ranking is not very effective in evaluating divisional strategies and/or effectiveness. There is an internal model that divisions can use to evaluate themselves over prior year or period. This should be part of the equation when creating a new model.
Current low unemployment rates make it difficult to retain or hire at times.

    Advice to Management

My advice is positive and not a critique at all. I feel strongly that McLane management is strong and looks out for the teammates. Continue communicating challenges with teammates. Teammates need knowledge to understand why some hours are long or why production rates are a standard. Raise the awareness of the internal customer concept among all teammates. Continue looking at positive ways to compensate teammates either through pay, merit, or bonus criteria. Check the age of some of these criteria to ensure they are in line with today's standards and are not older than 5 years. Raise the awareness of all divisions that praise of teammates is as valuable as accountability. Continue finding great mentors to grow teammates, supervisors, and managers and maintain a balance of internal promotion and external hires for leadership positions as both are needed for success.

I have been working at McLane Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Insurance, but not worth the headache

    Cons

Crap equipment- pallet jacks go out alot, and left to unload a whole truck by hand.
    Hours are 15-18 hour nights.
    Paid bi-weekly
Crap pay, made about 1700 gross every 2 weeks.
have to share ur pay with the driver helpers when they ride
Was told it paid hourly when I hired on, after I finished my 2 weeks notice they tell us in orientation its paid by the mile (.37c) and pallet (.17c) and stop (3$) usually about 4-7 stops a night
Don't care about safety at all... Makes new drivers ride with others driver who text the entire time they are driving.
Turn over rate is very high! They had 8 driver quit with-in 2 weeks and other drivers all complain the whole time when u ride with them.

    Advice to Management

Stop having recruiters lie about everything (pay, hours, what to expect), start caring about safety, stop your office employees from laughing at your drivers when they come in with a serious concern.
