    Pros

Excellent resource for learning everything you need to know to start your development career

I worked at McMaster University as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good community, competitive pay. There is always something going on at the campus which keeps things interesting. Students are generally friendly as long as you are helping them.

    Cons

Kept getting contract renewed instead of going full time. Frustrating when looking for benefits and a solid job.
Depending on department you may not have access to all of the tools you need (ie better computer)

    Advice to Management

More fairly allocating funds to departments so assistants can get the tools they need would speed up many processes. In addition, some assistants are overworked while others aren't. Some standards needed.

    Pros

    - Supervisors, Head Chefs were splendid
    - Casual workers are basically student
    - Free food (if worked >5,5hrs), free pop all day everyday
    - Hearty and intimate workplace, respect is set a priority

    Cons

    - workload goes up if a foo doesn't show up for their shift
    - no set training procedures for new employees

    Advice to Management

Not much to say, keep up the good work. Management does go under a lot of pressure.

I worked at McMaster University as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    * Great support for international students
    * Very friendly
    * The lab I interned is very famous for process systems engineering, the environment was competitive and I was able to learn a lot

    Cons

    * Away from city, hence felt isolated but the hostel environment eclipsed this.
    * Located at place where the weather is extreme, (I would not consider it as a cons).

    Pros

Enjoy the atmosphere of working at McMaster. Beautiful campus and city to live in as well! I work in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a teaching assistant.

    Cons

Some archaic professors who still work in the department and hold back research/course potential.

Former Employee - Dish Washer/Porter in Hamilton, ON (Canada)

I worked at McMaster University (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good people, hard working and helpful. Hours are flexible and managers are down to earth people

    Cons

Not much really. Unless you get stuck in the dish room working 8h on weekends everything else will be a walk in the park

    Advice to Management

I really liked how the managers talked to the employees. It felt like it was more like a friendship rather than just work.
