    Pros

McMurry is a great place to work in a great community. Campus provides many opportunities to support the academic mission while working with great colleagues. Supervisors are good at allowing for flexibility and support for family commitments.

    Cons

Private universities are being hit hard with limited federal support and thus affects enrollment---university becomes tuition driven just like all the other small church-affiliated universities in the state.

I have been working at McMurry University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The academics in your area are friendly are easy to work with.

    Cons

Upper administration has only made jobs more difficult. Health insurance is terrible and limited. Plan to drive 3 hours to see specialist.

    Advice to Management

The mission of the university is academics. Everything else is a side show. The previous management did a bad job. Current management did not fulfill its promised changes and has kept some problem cabinet members in place.

I worked at McMurry University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with college students is rewarding and most of the staff are good to work with. The campus is small and easy to get around.

    Cons

No pay raises to keep up with the economy so that is a downer. They are not a stable company to work for until they get good management in there .

    Advice to Management

    Clean house of all VP's

    Pros

Fun and caring community for students and staff alike. Very understanding when health or family matters take precidence.

    Cons

Some of the areas just smelled bad. Also some of the elevators specifically in the library and student center (where the mail is) are scary.

I have been working at McMurry University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Small classes. Know every one. Administration is very friendly. Have to commit a crime to be terminated. Not a place for driven individuals looking to be achievers.

    Cons

Administration is not trustworthy and will take advantage especially if money can be saved. No pay raises. Benefits are always changing. Poor budget management. Policy in past has been to sacrifice employees to correct management and spending over mistakes. Development axed to save money. Budgets and money is territorial.

    Advice to Management

Pick a standard. Learn to make a budget and charge a tuition that supports the university goals. Employees are not trading chips to fix million dollar VP mistakes.
