I worked at Meadowbrook Meat Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are no real pro except for receiving paycheck and yet this still doesn't keep employees for long

    Cons

Hugh turnover rate causes working hours to fluxuate greatly which lead to many 10 to 13 hour shifts. Not enough equipment for staff

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to employees and take action when entire department is recommending actions instead of making a big production of asking for feedback without any follow through

I have been working at Meadowbrook Meat Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent wages, well defined job duties, good benefits, friendly environment, accommodating for doctor appointments etc,

    Cons

Communication is a weak spot with this company. Events occur with no notification sent out, things have improved in the past couple of years but there is still a long way to go. Recognition for going above and beyond is reserved for certain departments

    Advice to Management

Stop keeping employees in the dark about happenings in the company. By not sharing information the employees are left to speculate and spread rumors.

I have been working at Meadowbrook Meat Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits. I have been driving for MBM since 2006 and the benefits are good. Since the aquisition by Mclane the benefits having got better. The pay is good fro drivers if you get a good route.

    Cons

Dispatchers do not recognize that your days off are your days off for a reason. (To get a reset). MBM has a high turnover rate because they work the senior drivers to death. You better keep up with your own 70hr rule because they will send you out and if the DOT catches you they will ask you why did you go out if you know you were out of hours. Newer drivers receive inadequate training. Managers just gives them a 2014 freightliner with 80k worth of groceries and say here go take this there. I was trained for a month when i was hired and already had delivery experience but times have changed. They will hire a over the road driver who has only done "drop and hook" to warehouse and expect them to drive downtown in a big city and park a 48ft trailer in a burgerking parking lot after going out only four training trips. I have seen it happen.

    Advice to Management

This place use to be family oriented. Care more about your drivers other than are they able to take a route out or not.

    Pros

People seem to be all into themselves.

    Cons

Ensuring employees are safe but has no regard for the safety of others.

    Advice to Management

Quit covering your wrong doing by holding your drivers accountable for their actions and being truthful.

I worked at Meadowbrook Meat Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great pay. Averaged between 87k to 110k from 1st year on.

    Cons

On the road away from family all the time. Management (Didn't used to be this way) treats employees like robots. As long as you're working and not questioning safety practices all is good (running grossly overweight trucks out on the road).

    Advice to Management

Practice What You Preach..... You have some good supervisors there, untie their hands and let them do their job right. Stop micromanaging everything from the top.

  10. "Hard work, minimal pay, minimal company appreciation."

I have been working at Meadowbrook Meat Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, depending on your supervisor. BUT - and there is a but - there's no consistency. If you work in Accounting, then you are micromanaged and the managers are spiteful and manipulative. If you work in Supply Chain or Operations, well, then you can manage your time as you need to as long as the work is done. The biggest PRO - McLane is taking over. I am holding on to see if they save us little people before I jump ship.

    Cons

Pay is terrible at the corporate level. When you try and dispute the salary, they say "it's average to what the area pays", but it's below average based on the INDUSTRY. There are some idiots making those decisions. And promotions? Ha. Not if you aren't in with or sleeping with the good ol boys club.

    Advice to Management

Please McLane, I'm begging you, bring some consistency to this company. Get rid of the upper echelon of management and let the workers actually reap the benefits of their hard work, for a change. Everyone at a Director level or above needs to be dismissed and McLane needs to just take over. It's a disaster.

Some do minimal work and still keep their jobs, while others have to pick up the slack.
