I have been working at MedImpact full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Management is very realistic about what we can achieve as a team and individually. My manager is very supportive and our team creates value for the organization every day. Fortunate to work with an organization which values integrity and honest/open communication. Pay and benefits are good.

    Cons

Nervous about layoffs, but that's the environment we're in.

    Advice to Management

Continue to support your staff, while being truthful and honest about our company's vision and future.

I have been working at MedImpact part-time

    Pros

Working on difficult projects and being able to find immediate solutions that would benefits the patient and my employer. Making a difference in each and everyone of my patients life's.

    Cons

The slow progression to moving up the leadership ladder. Not being able to present and showcase my innovative ideas that would make a significant for my company and for our clients/investors

    Advice to Management

To make it a point to listen to your employees, for you will be surprise on how many shinning stars you have, if you provide them the ability and the platform to showcase their talent.

I have been working at MedImpact full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great pay for easy work Great staff to work with Leadership is always willing to help you take the next step up.

    Cons

Schedules are not always “fair” I have worked here 3 years under many different supervisors. Somehow I have always worked the closing shift. I have asked many times to have an earlier schedule for school and every time I have been declined while other people have been able to stay on an early schedule for years. Or I receive empty promises stating they will look into it. Also, the company isn’t very transparent with what...

    Advice to Management

I definitely recommend looking into rotating schedules. I believe some people are getting rewarded just because of tenure when newer people have taken on more responsibility and put in extra work. I also would like to see more transparency. It is June and we should have had raises in April at least. I don’t feel like I should have to pester by supervisor to get answers.

I have been working at MedImpact full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Ability to help shape the future of our company and the PBM industry. Pay is very competitive. Benefits are very good. San Diego headquarters is beautiful Entrepreneurial spirit! Don't answer to Wall Street

    Cons

Part of our leadership are new to the table and eager to drive change needed for the next 30 years; while the other part of leadership is stuck in the past and not easily able to accept change and what is to come. What worked before will not carry us forward.

    Advice to Management

Drive what's best for the customers and the staff and not what is best for you individually. Focus your energy on the team that got you to those positions and provide them the direction to your vision and help them see the future beyond the day to day activities. Hold folks accountable to doing their job so that all others don't continue to carry the load. If you have bitter, angry employees manage it - don't let...

I worked at MedImpact full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Able to gain knowledge of PBMs, decent pay, reasonable PTO which accumulates

    Cons

Management does not hold peers accountable for getting things done. This is becoming an insidious problem, one that is stalling strategic initiatives, producing backstabbing and even sabatoge. This is causing the exit of hard working, motivated and talented individuals that can move the company forward. In short the business suffers, as does every productive employee.

    Advice to Management

Management step in and hold everyone accountable.

    I worked at MedImpact full-time

    Pros

MedImpact has grown steadily for 30 years and has a tremendous amount of long-term, dedicated employees who truly love what they do. The collective spirit of many still shines bright, even as the organization steers through some difficult waters with client terminations and market consolidation. The location in San Diego is central and growing, and investments are being made for additional space at other offices nationwide....

    Cons

The organization is not being properly managed by the ownership and its family. Nepotism runs rampant, including favoritism and absolution of failure without consequence. In the past six months the organization has seen nearly a dozen well-respected Directors or VPs leave because of non-existent long-term growth strategy from the CEO, discontinued long-term incentive programs and an overall sense that the “MedImpact...

    Advice to Management

Sell and move on. Get out of town and go count your money or whatever makes you happy. Pay off all the debts and loans, and let the company recover and thrive. Oh, and take the entire family with you. There are great people in the company, but they are handcuffed by the destructive culture and behavior of the small few at the very top. The organization is starving for more communication, more access to information...

    I worked at MedImpact full-time

    Pros

Location is nice. Pay meets average salary for role.

    Cons

Toxic work culture. Unpaid bonus despite meeting bonus targets. Little to no employee recognition (from management). Cost cutting measures despite the company purchasing an expensive private jet for the CEO. Lack of a clear product roadmap. Promotions only in top levels of leadership. There appears to be no upward mobility for the general masses. Tech is old and neglected (huge technical debt). Outside contractors taking...

I worked at MedImpact full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are no pros at MedImpact.

    Cons

Horrible company with horrible management. The owner is absent dealing with lawsuits and his other companies, basically using MedImpact in order to extort capitol (over 300 million in "loans" so he can live like a king). In two years did not receive a single bonus, although this was promised. Promotions are based on politics and nepotism, not skill or talent. The atmosphere is poison, the culture non-existent. Lay offs...
