I have been working at MedQuist

    Pros

It's a big company. When you move, your job moves with your.

    Cons

I feel like just another number. They don't seem to care about their employees. They have lowered our pay MANY TIMES.

    Advice to Management

Instead of giving yourself huge bonuses at the end of the year, how about giving more raises. Stop sending work to India and keep it in the United States.

    I worked at MedQuist

    Pros

Emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction. Technology has greatly improved Some flexibility depending upon position Salaries are competitive Diverse group of people

    Cons

Bottom line drives the business. Employees no longer considered an important asset of the company. Expectation is to get the job completed by working longer hours at the employees expense. Change (mostly reorganization) is the only constant at the company. Layoffs are inevitable Employees are easily expendable Senior management is out of touch Efforts are not recognized Will look outside of the company vs...

    Advice to Management

Start to value your employees and treat them with respect and dignity. Recognize that they are one of your most important assets. Listen to those who have survived the many changes that the company has undertaken and not discard their opinions.

I have been working at MedQuist

    Pros

MedQuist allows you to work with your supervisor to find an agreeable schedule. There are incentive weekends when a transcriptionist can make more than usual, and occasional contests with rewards.

    Cons

Medquist used to be THE place to work as an MT because it allowed you to work as a contract statutory employee. This meant that as an MT you didn't have to follow a strict work schedule. This is the reason I got into this business in the first place, because I needed to work at home and set my own schedule on a daily basis due to family and childcare issues. I wanted to be a stay/work at home mom. However, now that...

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to go back to allowing statutory/contract employees for those who are not in need of health insurance and other benefits but desperately need the flexibility in their work schedules.

    Pros

Company provides equipment. Thats about it

    Cons

Outsources biggest accounts off shore, rather than provide U.S. MTs with consistent work. No, absolutely no PAY RAISES. Ever. It is the rule, rather than exception that a full time employee will RUN OUT OF WORK and not get a regular, predictable pay check. Absolutely no communication between employees and management. This company actually DOCKS PAY FOR ASR MISTAKES! ASR systems provided to dictators that should...

    Advice to Management

Your concern with the all mighty dollar is killing the MT field. You should be ashamed of yourself and your business practices.

I have been working at MedQuist

    Pros

You get your paycheck on time, such as it is. That is about the only positive thing I can come up with.

    Cons

Crummy pay, lousy management, jobs being shipped overseas (how I love knowing that I may be QA'd for a grammar mistake, but that at the same time our jobs are being sent to another country where English is not the primary language) no consistency in anything at all! Constant changes in client profiles and we are supposed to keep it all straight, and still keep our line count up, and keep our QA down. God forbid we should...

    Advice to Management

See above and read reviews from the rest of your disgruntled employees. That should give you lots to work on, if you were inclined to.
