I have been working at MedStar Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They do not micromanage, but keep you in compliance with regulations. Great people. Open to suggestions to improve patient care.

    Cons

You must negotiate your salary. Bonuses are not based on hard work alone. As the nature of large corporations, things can move slowly.

I worked at MedStar Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They provided s wealth of education.

    Cons

The supervisors and managers changed protocol without written notification at a whim to benefit statistics instead of Nursing staff. Not all Nursing Staff has the ability to attend the certification classes. The managers generally allow those they favor most to attend.

    Advice to Management

Work more to benefit the Nursing staff that need assistance .

Get your charge nurses out of the numbers or you may lose your hardest workers.

I worked at MedStar Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and potential for paid time off.
Many locations - convenient to work near your home.
    Large network of providers.

    Cons

Management plays favorites. Gets rid of long term, dependable employees to hire new inexperienced people at much lower wages - to save MedStar money. This is also not the best for providing quality patient care. You have no rights because you are an 'at will' employee. No one listens if you have a genuine concern or complaint. If you do stand up for yourself, you'll have a target on your back. Discriminatory practices - discipline is not applied to all employees equally. They break policies to keep the under performers but go out of their way to terminate good reliable employees. Avoid this employer!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of management! They are crooked and unfair and will cover for each other. Investigate complaints from your employees because your managers and directors are not being fair and honest in their assessments. No wonder this employer wanted to keep a UNION from forming within their institutions. Then maybe the playing field would be more level and employees would be properly represented.
