I have been working at Medcan full-time

    Pros

Great place to work. Still small enough environment to know most people by name and have fun. Growing rapidly and many good services/offerings in the works.

    Cons

A lot of changes very quickly. Great to try and grow but it takes time....also many leadership changes recently.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose the time/care for the employees that you had when I first started. Although we are growing, we can still "act small."

I have been working at Medcan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers, beautiful offices, deep discounts on health services (e.g. massage, personal training, professional skin consults), a climate of growth, success and optimism, excellent medical benefits.

    Cons

Abysmal IT infrastructure, below-average compensation, extraordinarily high-stress environment (working here is like having an 8-hour panic attack every day), serious lack of middle management (a glut of management at the top, but very few with actual hands-on experience in their departments).

    Advice to Management

Compensation is not adequate and costs the company time and productivity in massive employee burnout and turnover. This could be remedied one of two ways: additional staff to reduce the overwhelming workload on existing employees, or increased compensation commensurate with the high demands of even entry-level administrative roles in this company.

    Pros

    - health benefits that include an annual health assessment
    - office located in downtown core
    - opportunity to work with various levels of management

    Cons

    - expect to work long hours with little recognition
    - execs only care about revenue growth and customer retention, not about employees
    - turnover at the company is unbelievably high, making it difficult for new employees to get up and running and excel for long periods of time
    - limited resources including inadequate computer hardware
    - lack of IT infrastructure make it difficult to report and rely on company performance data
    - lack of HR infrastructure creates inconsistencies in the treatment of employees and the management of employee data
    - dark, dirty and depressing physical office space for employees that are not client facing

I have been working at Medcan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Office hours
    Front line people are nice

    Cons

    -Management heavy
-Feedback and constructive criticism never gets addressed appropriately
-New products and fast expansion, but same amount of staff resulting in high pressure and stress to accomplish tasks
-More work also results in more absences and the rest of the staff are scrambling to cover
-Pay is subpar when compared to industry standard

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff feedback and have proper policies and protocols in place. People will be more inclined to stay and put effort in their work

I worked at Medcan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

people doing the work are committed and skilled

    Cons

If your compensation is tied to company performance, beware that the financials are not as they seem. An (ongoing) lawsuit filed in 2016, against the company and father-son owners, alleges they channel personal expenses through the business, and direct revenues to the separate company owned by Robert, distorting revenues and earnings. The Francis duo filed an unsuccessful motion to have details struck from the lawsuit. See Commercial case # CV-16-00011564-00CL

    Advice to Management

Live your stated values, especially the "we live with integrity one".

I have been working at Medcan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are nice but culture has drastically changed to become negative.

    Cons

Toxic culture. No work/life balance. No respect for employees. If you are somewhat intelligent, you will stay far away. It's a revolving door - people last 6 months to a year before quitting.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, as they are willing to go above and beyond.

I have been working at Medcan part-time

    Pros

At Medcan they don't appear to micromanage their employees. Although you are being watched... All the time.

    Cons

The workload is increasing significantly due to growth, but the staffing remains the same as does the pay scale. Doesn't make sense For Profit organization. Clients/patients are starting to notice the difference and are voicing their disapproval of their declining service. There is way too much emphasis on up selling.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees, increase the salaries to industry levels and improve the work environment. The customer satisfaction will increase as they will notice the difference.

I have been working at Medcan full-time

    Pros

Medcan has a welcoming atmosphere and great people. You certainly have a chance to help change clients lives no matter what team you are on. Medcan encourages its staff to live well and offers some great perks.

    Cons

It certainly is a rapidly growing company which comes with growing pains but also means there is a lot of opportunity to shine.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to employee feedback and maintain the open lines of communication.
