I have been working at Mediaocean full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Mediaocean culture promotes learning and growth. New employees go through an in-depth training bootcamp during their first month which provides thorough knowledge and understanding of products, technology and processes. Another great thing about MO is the people. Supportive and respectful, most people would like you to succeed which is rare these days. Another perk is great office space in NY. Located near Union Square...

    Cons

The Open PTO policy causes ambiguity in terms of number of vacation days. Employees feel under-appreciated due to low salary packages and minimal bonuses. Also, there is a sense of uncertainty caused by frequent acquisitions and ensuing lay-offs.

    Advice to Management

Create a sense of stability by minimizing the takeovers. Improve compensation packages for employees so they feel more appreciated. Keep up the efforts to bring diversity and work-life balance to have a happy and satisfied workforce.

I worked at Mediaocean full-time for more than a year

    Pros

By far, the biggest pro at Mediaocean is the peoople. Every single person at the company is amazing, and I've never encountered a situation where someone did not want to go above and beyond to help you. I made so many close friends at Mediaocean, and that speaks volumes about to the types of people they hire. Another pro of Mediaocean is the culture. There is a "work hard, play hard" mentality, and while everyone is...

    Cons

One con to Mediaocean is that compensation can be below industry standard. I can only speak for my personal experience, but a candidate with my years of experience, skills, and education could easily be making $5k-$10k+ more elsewhere. You have to keep in mind, though, that some of the benefits (like the flexible work schedule) can make this a non-issue for some. Another con is slow career growth for some. As I wrote...

    Advice to Management

Continue to nurture the amazing culture you've built, and remember that it's the people at Mediaocean that make the company a success. Be more transparent about how decisions are made. While I understand that upper-management cannot share every single detail about every decision made, being more transparent about how you decide compensation increases and promotions will go a long way in establishing a sense of fairness....

I worked at Mediaocean full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Salary was decent along with work schedule.

    Cons

Upper management was terrible. They would just lie to your face and not blink an eyelash. When Mediaocean was bought by Vista Equity, they promised no layoffs. They claimed Vista Equity was going to improve Mediaocean through innovation while enjoying the profits Mediaocean was producing. The very next week, they laid off over 150 people!!!!!

    Advice to Management

    Try honesty!

I worked at Mediaocean full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The open PTO is great. Great company culture with social events held at least monthly. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, which makes collaborating throughout the company enjoyable and easy. Great work/life balance. Never had to stay late or work more than 40 hours a week.

    Cons

Pay is lower than average and promotions/raises are essentially non-existent. Annual salary increases are higher than average but not usually enough to correspond with experience gained over several years. Turn over is high as people tend to leave around the two-year mark for jobs with better pay and/or career growth. Career growth can be a problem and it wasn't really discussed with me. My role lacked advancement...

    Advice to Management

Reduce the turnover amongst non-managerial employees by paying your employees a salary that coincides with their expertise. When an employee leaves, they take their experience with them, which can hinder teams, projects, and product development. Having employees with a strong understanding of Mediaocean's software(s) is important to the company's success, but to have that you need to be able to keep them and that means...

    Pros

There's opportunity to present new ideas if your boss is open to them.

    Cons

Not an innovative company. Most employees have low ambitions.

I worked at Mediaocean full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The only pros I can list is the location was nice and the team I worked with was the best.

    Cons

Where to start? -Management consistently lies and consistently blames a person who has not been with the company for several years on issues. -People are taking on way more responsibilities with no increase in pay due to them cutting personnel. -Several in senior management positions simply just don't care about the departments they manage. All they care about is cutting costs so they can appear to be profitable.

    Advice to Management

None, because they don't care and are only looking to save their own hides.

I worked at Mediaocean full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance is amazing, pretty much 9 to 5 on the dot minus your usual exceptions. Decent pay, nice employees, office in great location

    Cons

This can either be seen as a pro or con, but a lot of the people who work there have been there for 10+ years. While it affords them a lot of knowledge about Mediaocean's software, it also makes them closed to new directions or even look at existing things differently. It's harder for a more junior person (in terms of tenure at the company) to get their footing or be heard because people will naturally defer to the person...

    I worked at Mediaocean full-time

    Pros

Great people, strong work is being done, and a pretty strong work life balance. No crazy restrictions/rules.

    Cons

The pay is below average, and the promotion and organizational structure puts real handcuffs on growing your career.

    Advice to Management

Work to help your employees careers and growth, not just their 9 to 5.
