I have been working at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers help each other and love to teach new nurses when they can.
Medical city Dallas is a magnet hospital.

    Cons

Staffing is horrible, and it's a chronic problem. The staffing matrix was terrible to begin with, then if someone calls in its really terrible.

    Advice to Management

    Make staffing a priority

I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Safe environment that values best evidenced based practices

    Cons

Micromanagement, lack of trust on their staff, lack of recognition for good actions, unprofessional communication between management and staff.

    Advice to Management

Listen before you get to conclusions, learn how to recognize the employees that truly values their career of choice and values medical city. If you don’t they will still love their job and do their best but somewhere else.

I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are okay. HR are the only people that do their jobs, management doesn't care.

    Cons

I worked for two different clinics with HCA, one at the Dallas Medical City Hospital and the other at the Medial City in Plano. Both were terrible working experiences. I would never recommended going to work at an HCA owned hospital or clinic in Dallas or even going there. So many employees violate HIPAA, very unstable work environment and a lot of drama and stress over petty stuff. I hated the 6 months I worked with HCA. It was miserable. Both clinics I worked for the Office Managers quit, so any people were quitting when I was working there that I, myself found a new job with another clinic and got out of there fast.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate better, hire better employees.

I have been working at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time

    Pros

    pay, certifications, opportunities, experience, pay

    Cons

    lowsupport, disorganized, oldequipment, charting, lonely

    Advice to Management

Balancing patient satisfaction and safety while keeping staff happy is a challenge. Allocate assistants to specific zones in the ed to expedite care and improve flow. nurses rushing around to make up for time spent doing tasks that can be delagated to support staff, while the support staff pick and choose preferred tasks or nurses they want to assist is not fair to the nurses or the patients. Some nurses have mentioned being an island, "just do every thing on your own" even though it results in seeing your other patients less and that is a safety concern. How does one have time to effectively chart that they requested support but didn't get it to cover their license in case something happens when they barely have time to do the thing they needed assistance with? Charting needs to be easy and it shouldn't take more time to chart something was done than it took to do it.

I worked at Medical City Dallas Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits not bad, great retirement. Floor level staff care about each other. Food is not bad on days, none at nights

    Cons

Upper management will blame anyone to cover their issues. All concerns are money related not patient safety related, then wonder why satisfaction score and patient errors go up

    Advice to Management

    Care about patients not bonuses
