I have been working at Medical College of Wisconsin full-time

    Pros

The Medical College of Wisconsin is an amazing place to grow your career and contribute to a mission that matters and makes a difference in the Milwaukee community, the region, state and nation at large. We even have an international reach!

The Human Resources department is unlike any I have ever worked with or been a part. They are deeply valued throughout the organization and therefore have great influence. Projects are exciting, dynamic and require creative solutions. The community that HR serves and supports is brilliant and exceptional which brings deep meaning to the work.

Lots of opportunities to flex and create-which is recognized and rewarded.

    Cons

Projects are dynamic and at times may not move forward as quickly as desired.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work supporting and investing in the people of MCW.

I have been working at Medical College of Wisconsin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, depending on department- flexible hours

    Cons

Depending on PI, you could be working in an unhealthy environment. PI's dictate how professional they want your lab to be. We have a student who drops the "N" word with the hard R and cusses/yells at people with no repercussions.

    Advice to Management

Work on your yearly evaluations with the staff. It is not appropriate for my supervisor to tell me straight to my face that I am reaching Outstanding constantly, but they want to give me a Solid so they don't have to give me a raise. That is not how it should work.

    Pros

Good work environment, financially sound and stable company, good benefits.

    Cons

For being a large financially stable company I think health insurance deductibles and copays should not be so high.

I have been working at Medical College of Wisconsin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

MCW is a great company overall. Good mission and innovation, solid benefits and training for employees, good learning for students, faculty and reseachers

    Cons

HR Leadership and HR Leadership. This team needs help and it starts at the top. I like my job but the environment is toxic. If you are critical of the leaders they will target you by changing your job, changing your workspace, getting rid of you, marking you down on reviews etc. Retaliation is rampant. It's scary and not how the rest of MCW is. Please protect your employees and take action.

    Advice to Management

The only things that have stayed the same are high turnover, low engagement, low trust from departments and HR employees and the MCW leaders. It's not a coincidence. A leadership overhaul is needed.

I worked at Medical College of Wisconsin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are quality doctors and staff in other departments who do their jobs professionally.

    Cons

Radiation Oncology Department lacks leadership. There is a clear toxic environment at the Medical Physics section of the Radiation Oncology Department. There is clear racial discrimination and the key positions are being given to the mediocre candidates of certain etnicity who have no prior education in US. The abusing of the postdocs by constantly humiliating and degrading them is common. There is no democratic environment in the department and many people leave their positions shortly after joining his group. If you want to ruin your life, go ahead and work here.

    Advice to Management

Take action on the discrimination at the Department of Radiation Oncology.

I worked at Medical College of Wisconsin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company itself is fantastic. Treats students very well. Decent benefits

    Cons

HR is a mess. The senior leaders of HR are not on the same page as their employees. There is zero transparency about the direction of the department, they do not follow their own policies and standards, and if you're not in with the "clique" right away - they will find a way to lay you off or make you quit.

    Advice to Management

Fix your HR department. You'll likely need to fire the entire leadership and start from scratch.
