I have been working at Medidata Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Medidata is a fast paced, fast growing tech company. There are many opportunities for advancement and change. If you ware willing to self-motivate and tackle hard problems with grace, there is success awaiting you at Medidata. I've been a customer and an employee and I love Medidata from both perspectives.

    Cons

"Work hard, play hard" - it can be too easy to only work hard and forget to take care of your work/life balance. Medidata fully supports a good balance, but it's easy to individually lose track of that.

    Advice to Management

Communicate, motivate, and continue to be passionate!

    Cons

None - just have to work well in a fast paced, growing environment.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep open lines of communication and take feedback from employees

I have been working at Medidata Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited PTO, flexibility to wfh, great office space, holiday parties are top notch and the company is growing exponentially. Medidata is all around a great company doing great things!!!

    Cons

I don't have anything bad to say. Management is very reasonable, sometimes you have to push to get ideas through but most companies are resistant to change. It does take a persistent person to spur change however you get out what you put in. My only con is a lot of people are ok with status quo which makes it hard to implement change.

    Advice to Management

Let your young guns shine. Support their ideas and put them in the position to grow.

    Pros

Medidata is an ever-growing company and is always looking for new ways to integrate, operate and grow.

    Cons

At times the excessive growth and change can be challenging for employees to matriculate to new processes while maintaining high performance.

    Advice to Management

Clearly define a career growth ladder and performance needed to attain next steps.

    "Bad management, shady HR"

I worked at Medidata Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good location
    - Nice office
    - Good coffee and bagel mondays

    Cons

    - Management is very result driven. I had 3 people reminding me about the same tasks multiple times a day.
    - Meetings turn into knife fights very quickly, everyone is quick to blame everyone else and to fight over the smallest disagreement. Short meetings always turned into hours with tabled conversations for later over small disagreements that were never resolved.
    - Low pay, they pay about 30 percent less than competitors for the same role in the same location.
    - Management should stay out of software. Managers who haven't programmed in 20 years should trust their teams to make the right choices and quit trying to micro manage. This is a company that obsesses over micromanaging and because of this very little gets done, everyone is too busy knife fighting.
    - HR is there to protect the company, don't trust them. They tried to trick me into signing an agreement that would have denied me any compensation package and would have denied me unemployment.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees, treat them like an asset not a liability. Everyone kept asking why the turnover rate was so high. It's because the pay is so low and the management is so annoying. The stress isn't worth it for so little pay.

    Pros

Great company with strong growth prospects. Director/VP/SVPs are all very strong talent and great people working together to expand the company, products, clients, partners and revenue. Dynamic environment and geographic flexibility offered to sales professionals.

    Cons

Company is only 15 years old so while some processes have been established and are scalable, others are still in process. Lots of change in sales leadership in last two years. Come prepared to work hard!

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I worked at Medidata Solutions (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work from home flexibility and good compensation.
401K and benefits were good. Company parties were awesome.

    Cons

Overload of work. Executives and management lack people and leadership skills specially in professional services. For customer facing jobs emphasis is given only to customer feedback and other side of the story is not heard.

    - lack of focus

    - HR obstructionists

I have been working at Medidata Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Pleasant and well furnished office environment with modern amenities
    - Cleaning staff and schedule at offices excellent, offices are very sanitary

    Cons

    - There is general management and leadership vacuum and overall culture of arrogance and incompetence which results in below negative factors
    - Questionable to still have the founders to be as involved as they are in the company at this point in time however it would make sense if this is a vessel that exists primarily fuel wealth and ego
    - Staff continuous given unreasonable tasks and ridiculous projects with impossible timelines mean diligant employees incredibly overworked in terms of hours and projects with no sense of accomplishment
    - Ironically, there also seem to be a large number of employees with little or nothing to do which results in a very unfair work distribution
    - Benefits adequate, but don’t seem good if you come from a larger organization. I find do pay much more out of pocket for health costs now as many things are not covered even though I do had UHC PPO option at my former employer and have UHC PPO option here - clear that Medidata has low end package
    - President has final say on everything and is involved with very low level decision making. He is pathological micromanager who can't keep hands out of low level day to day tasks including coding.
    - Questionable moral standards include misrepresentation during hiring process and constant misstatements by upper management like status of projects, budget spend, sales activities
    - Disturbingly high staff turnover with no acknowledgement - constant and sudden disappearances of staff including top executives with no communication - high turnover is cause for so frequent job postings by company
    - General immoral business decisions and behavior (particularly in Marketing and HR)
    - Company proclaims twice annual holiday parties as employee "benefit" - when these "Parties" take place outside of office hours, and non Medidata guests like spouses are not invited, they more like a gross misallocation of resources and a piling on of additional work hour requirements to already overwhelmed and overworked staff -- not benefit at all.

    Advice to Management

No point in wasting time writing something here, they not interested in advice
