    Advice to Management

Fun parties can't be a substitute for good management practices. Look at how often employees leave this company after short stints.

    Pros

    Tuition reimbursement
    Bonus pay
Company makes great money on their software products

    Cons

Provide better pay rates for the workers not in the engineering department
Provide better systems for your Conshohocken workers

    Advice to Management

Work smarter not hard. Invest in better systems for your Conshohocken office. A newer system would make their lives easier and will produce a higher productivity rate. It's been promised since 2008. In every town hall meeting you brag about how much money the company has made but yet it's not invested in the departments that need it the most only in the IT/Engineer departments.

    Pros

Tech company atmosphere. Unlimited PTO, casual work attire. Great people, great company parties.

    Cons

Pertaining to FP&A and Finance dept specifically, high deliverables with often no understanding of process to get there, or lack of manpower to complete without working in overdrive. Too many unnecessary 'firedrills' on a daily basis. Tout work/life balance but seems to be other departments except FP&A.

    Advice to Management

Enhance Finance teams, with management, systems, and additional manpower

    Pros

OK, so Medidata is amazing for many reasons:
    - You get to work on products and business problems that make the world a healthier place
    - The culture is friggin awesome and the majority of people you work with are down to earth, cool, collaborative people
    - You actually get a work/life balance
    - Amazing benefits (stock purchase program, gym reimbursement, etc.)

    Cons

Based on my experience, and seeing people in similar situations, this is not the best company if you're young, talented, and ambitious. So many layers of middle management have been created and the company doesn't really have much transparency in promotions or raises.

Basically, neither the HR department or middle management focus on developing and promoting people under them. The company's mentality is *it doesn't matter how talented you are, we're only going to promote you if there's some position open*. It's weird, they literally disincentivize you from working your hardest.

The people who I've seen be really successful stay for a year or two and use the company as a launch point to a gig at some other company that has a better title and salary.

    Advice to Management

If you really want to grow the company, start figuring out how you can keep your young talent who will be leading the company in the next 5-10 years.

    Pros

Unlimited time off. Game room. Work from home.
If you stick around long enough, you will get promoted, even if you do not have the skills.

    Cons

The company sold itself as a small company time, yet they were over 1000+ when I left. The company has grown so much that there are too many levels of management. Managers with 10+ years of employment with little management skills. It felt like I was working for a big bank or government. Not much got done. They also have an antiquated application.

    Advice to Management

Waste of time to provide any advice. You have an open door policy, but you were hardly in the office. You asked for questions to be asked anonymously, yet your answers were unacceptable.
