I worked at Medifast full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone should do the Medifast program while working there. I lost 80 pounds in a year of managing my center.

    Cons

Medifast inc was a great company to work for. The 3 other franchisees to buy Medifast with in two years of working there was not!

    Advice to Management

Do not sell out to any franchise. Twin rivers was the worst!

Good benefits for someone who isn't salaried. They have fun corporate office activities through out the year. That everyone can go to.

    Pros

The people I work with get along very well. We take time to ask about how everyone is. We support each other on our own personal journeys to good health.
    Very generous time off package
Wonderful benefit of free gym, free classes and free personal training
Summer picnic is at a beautiful swim club with lots of fun games

    Cons

The company depends upon health coaches to sell the products. The health coaches are not well educated on the different meal plans. They have a very limited understanding of the products they are selling. The health coaches need to emphasize that the clients work with their health care providers to choose the right plan.

    Advice to Management

Create required webinars for the coaches to watch before they can start getting commissions. The webinars will review every different plan as well as Transition and Maintenance. ALso all of the products will be presented including supplements and recipe books.

I have been working at Medifast full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some great benefits! Flexible hours, a free gym, and a great PTO plan when you first start here. The people in general are very friendly and members on my own team are very easy to work with. They are a huge part to why I work at Medifast! Additionally, attending the Take Shape For Life events and meeting the Health Coaches gives me a powerful understanding of why I do what I do in my daily job, and it's quite gratifying.

    Cons

The growth opportunity is stagnant. There is a glass ceiling unfortunately. Most people do not stay here past 5 years, if that. Sometimes I wonder if management actually wants to develop their own people and encourage them to stay. If individually you take the initiative to ask, there are opportunities to learn new skills through cross-training, but do not expect management to start the conversation about a career path here.

There has also been a lot of turnover starting approximately 18 months ago from associate level positions to executives, and with it came little to no communication on the direction in which we were heading. This caused a lot of confusion and overall poor morale. This has leveled out in the last 6 months, and truthfully, the end result is encouraging. People are happier to be here and have a better grasp on their role. As with any company though, there is still room for improvement.

    Advice to Management

Please make continuous strides to be transparent in the company goals and direction. If we miss the mark somewhere, tell us. Don't sugarcoat it. We are your employees, not your investors. Only we can partner with you to accomplish company goals. Please trust us. And above all, please make it very well known that you believe in this company and its mission more than the paycheck at the end of the day.
