I worked at Medifast full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Medifast is a great place to grow: find your counseling style, learn to work efficiently in a pseudo-clinic setting, and garner solid counseling/nutrition experience. Management is supportive and truly wants to see you grow.

    Cons

Management was constantly changing at the time of my hire. The manager that hired me left a month later, we were in limbo while the next one was being interviewed (they at least hired from within), and then the new manager + new assistant manager (also hired within) took some time to solidify what they wanted from the counselors. While not completely their fault, it was hard to meet their needs and morale dropped for some time.
Work/life balance is lacking as you work different hours every day and only have Wednesdays and Sundays off. It was hard to even consider taking a vacation because of the weekly appointments you had with a 40+ client load. I felt like I was selling products to clients instead of actually counseling them to long-term health goals. In the end, the pay wasn't worth it.

    Advice to Management

More for CEO, but work/life balance needs to be worked on. Its understandable that some clients can't come in until Saturdays, but the counselors need two consecutive days off to recuperate. This is an emotionally draining job.

I have been working at Medifast full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredible coworkers. Solid mid-level management. Rewarding work. Decent autonomy.

    Cons

Rewarding work, but not thanks to upper management. CEO lacks a compelling vision and is principally driven by profits/greed.
    Limited professional development.

    Advice to Management

Put people first - customers as well as staff. Long term, you'll actually make the most money that way. It's the only SUSTAINABLE way to run a business.

    Pros

Great helping people change their lives, great training, great co-workers!

    Cons

Management differed in what they wanted. Corporate office didn't listen to people in the field about what we could've used to be more successful.

I have been working at Medifast full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Experience working with individuals on weigh loss and behavioral changes. If you are up for challenging yourself you can also gain sales experience. Great for gaining experience in the health and wellness field if you are unsure of your next move after college.

    Cons

pay is very low! No matter what level you are. Commissions are not competitive either.

    Advice to Management

Offering more competitive pay would work wonders.

I worked at Medifast full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone should do the Medifast program while working there. I lost 80 pounds in a year of managing my center.

    Cons

Medifast inc was a great company to work for. The 3 other franchisees to buy Medifast with in two years of working there was not!

    Advice to Management

Do not sell out to any franchise. Twin rivers was the worst!

I worked at Medifast full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved working with the clients and helping them reach their goals. The environment was clean and friendly.

    Cons

No opportunities for advancement. No continuing education or ongoing training so there were inconsistencies from counselor to counselor. Leadership was lacking, at best.

    Advice to Management

Use the talent you have to their potential and there won't be as much turnover. If you are looking for candidates with leadership experience, you need to utilize that experience and offer your employees opportunities to grow in their profession.

I have been working at Medifast full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Medifast provides a great family atmosphere. Team members look out for each other and are truly sincere about your well being and being able to assist you. Supervisors are great with helping to push you for cross training in order to keep you well versed in your position. Which can also lead to other job opportunities within the company. Supervisors work with you when you have uncontrollable circumstances and do their best to accommodate.

    Cons

Communication is sent to help you perform your job, however often times it is sent after clients have contacted us to inquire about it. It is also important to take the time to listen to employees and address their concerns in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

It is very important to send communication in a timely manner and to be available to assist you when needed.
