If you are interested in the Nuclear industry, this company may be for you. OPG operates 3 of the 5 Nuclear Plants in Ontario and has a lot of operating experience to do with Nuclear Plants. Most of the companies business objectives centre on how to improve operation and maintenance of the Nuclear Power Plants.

    Cons

    Highly regulated
    Bureaucratic

The Nuclear Industry is a highly regulated environment. Consequently, you are faced with a lot of governance, procedures, and oversight in your daily work. This can feel like a big change to anyone starting at this company. It can also feel like it hampers innovation.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more, as there is a lot of expertise available to be gained.

    Pros

Good people, idiot mgr. (in my case) but there are many good ones/

    Cons

waste tax payers money by the bucket loads
projects never finish, and no one cares

    Advice to Management

start operating OPG like a for profit enterprise, get ride of the political BS that costs money just to support, how many layers do you need to make a sound decison? not the multiple ones you have, all this does is add cost as each layer tries to CYA.

    Pros

Definitely the only thing good about this company is the Pay and benefits. Its a great job if you love your life to be repetitive and utterly boring. Again the Pay is good.

    Cons

No meaning to the job. waste of 35 hours of my life. Just dong it for the money. Lack of motivation

    Advice to Management

Start removing those fat cats on the top of the chain and start making your company young again by training new individuals who have the intelligence to run such a big company.

    Pros
