I worked at Medpace full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The vacation and sick time is generous. However you are allowed to use your entire allotment as of Jan 1. If you use time for maternity leave, you will owe if you leave before the end of the year. Not noted anywhere how time is accrued.

    Cons

The work environment is poor. If you are a hard worker you will be overloaded with work and punished if you fail to deliver. Overtime is expected with minimal merit increases and worthless bonuses. Coworkers use one another as scapegoats when things go wrong. The turnover is astronomical. It is clear management doesn't care to retain its employees. No work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your employees instead of buying up property and building in madisonville. You will have a lovely campus and no loyal employees because you treat them as expendable.

I worked at Medpace (More than a year)

    Pros

Talented, smart workforce - easy to make new friends
    Nice equipment
    New building

    Cons

This company fails to value its employees, in particular the CRA group. It only values the bottom dollar line and it is vividly expressed through the compensation provided, the treatment of its employees, and the policy changes. For instance, the compensation is well below the industry standard, but they will tell you during recruitment that if you're patient you will reap the benefits of a higher salary in due time after training (this is untrue). For instance, the culture of the company is to instill fear and paranoia by micromanaging all staff and threatening jobs over minor mistakes (e.g. you submitted an incorrect expense report or were seen on your phone). For instance, policy changes are continually being made to benefit the company and not the employee (e.g. required to take budget airline flights, increased the number of visits per year to make bonus, restructured promotions, scrutinized every detail of an expense report). In reflection of these policies and others, the turnover rate continues to remain high and management does nothing to make processes transparent. It has lost a lot of good talent and experience in recent years, including upper management. Overall, this employer does not have your best intentions in mind. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, communicate changes in a transparent way, and stop recruiting under false pretenses.

    I worked at Medpace full-time

    Pros

If you have a relative in management who works there you have excellent job security.

    Cons

If you make it high enough to be invited to management parties then you're good, but if you're trying to start a career stay away. If you're not a favorite you'll be overloaded with work and will eventually be fired when you've done as much work as they can throw on you before your training period is even complete.

Miami University and University of Cincinnati recent grads should avoid this company at all costs. You're better off with a contract position or hospital job.

I worked at Medpace full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a gym and free coke machine.

    Cons

I would not recommend this company to anyone who has professional work experience. They say they offer competitive salary but it is not industry standard. They have now started hiring all interns to replace experienced workers. They do not want to pay their current employees raises and have those qualified, experienced employees have begun leaving. HR is unable to do HR duties because the top executives meet monthly to review and approve/deny all transfers, promotions and new hires. With that being said, they approve and deny transfers/promotions with no real explanation or knowledge of employee’s duties, experience, and direct manager’s thoughts. Hope you catch them in a good mood! If you are allowed a transfer you won’t be able to transfer for about 3-5months no matter what level of experience you are. They will 99% of the time, give no increase in salary even if you bump up to a better position. They also try to sell you on the free lunch. It is salad every day, I'd much rather have a competitive salary.

    Advice to Management

Let HR do HR work. Pay your employees what they should be making because you are losing good loyal employees over trying to cut costs. The quality of employees and work has dropped significantly.

I have been working at Medpace full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free lunch, free gym, young colleagues.

    Cons

Overall lack of management. Managers are only in their positions due to friendships or length of time at Medpace. They do not actually possess any skills that would make them suitable managers. The company enjoys having employees always feel a threat of being fired and does not promote quality work, but rather quality friendships with your manager. If you enjoy being talked down to, disrespected, and told that you need to make friends rather than do your job then this is the place for you!

As soon as you walk in, you'll notice a trend of people that have either been there for 1 month or 10 years. There is no in between. The rate at which people quit and/or get fired is concerning. My best advice is to not be enticed to work here out of college simply to have a job. They prey on college graduates so that they can overwork and underpay you. Right now, they are in a situation where they hired too many people so they are firing left and right but somehow still continue to hire. I would have rather had no job than have dealt with the antics of this company and the stress of the workplace. The sooner I can leave, the better life will be. This place is pitiful.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers who can actually manage people and treat their employees with respect. Don't hire just to fire. Spread work evenly between CRA's--half of us are overworked and the other half have never even left their desks.
