I worked at Medtronic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary and benefits are competitive. There were a lot of good people before they were let go or left on their own.

    Cons

Medtronic is no longer a mission-driven company with the patient in mind, it is a shareholder driven company that is taking the same mentality as GE to become a dividend stock. The good people and VPs are being let go, while investment banker VPs without any technical competency are making decisions based solely on spreadsheets.
There is so much red tape and bureaucracy, Medtronic will never be able to make changes or add new products before competitors. It is difficult to do the right thing with all the procedures and policies.
If you just want nothing but a paycheck this is the place for you, but if you want to grow and learn, go somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Get back to the mission where the patient comes before the shareholders.
Doing nothing in response to the results you get from employee surveys is worse than never doing the surveys at all.
