I worked at Meggitt Polymer & Composites full-time

    Pros

Work is interesting. The little money i made here helped me buy food to survive long enough to find a new job.

    Cons

You are lied to, very little opportunities for advancement, jobs aren't posted withon company but are given to management's friends and children.

    Advice to Management

Respect the people on the floor who are the reason you have a job.

I have been working at Meggitt Polymer & Composites full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Once a great company called Sparta, there are few left here from that era that take pride in and understand what we make. The satisfaction of seeing these people move on to better opportunities and remaining hopeful to be out of here one day soon.

    Cons

Then Cobham now Meggitt ,the company has been driven into the ground by two former GM's that liked to hire friends and family that have no experience and no business being in the positions they hold, whom also followed suit in this detrimental hiring practice. So much so that they had no problem changing hiring criteria to get their people a position only to change it back after they were hired on. They hire cheap inexperienced floor staff that could care less about what they're making and are there just to collect a paycheck. Extremely corrupt, unknowledgeable, top heavy management branch that has no problem walking all over you on a daily basis. There is little money for raises or bonuses because it has been wasted on no value staff. An Engineering department that is a joke "directed" by a person that has little to no engineering experience and is full of green fresh out of college Mech. Engineers that do not know the first thing about composites and will claim your ideas as their own. The few good engineers they have are leaving or have left. Avoid this company that is full of empty promises at all costs. You will go nowhere, that is of course unless you're pals with management.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring all your buddies that don't know anything about aerospace composites and promote from within. You only have a few people left in the company that actually know what they're doing and you're losing them quickly one by one. Then do us all a favor and quit! If this happens we might be able to salvage this once great company.

When purchasing a company make sure you get into its inner workings quickly. Touch and see don't just hear.

I worked at Meggitt Polymer & Composites (More than a year)

    Pros

Peer wise, an outstanding group. Each and every person I worked with sincerely wanted to perform the best in their respective positions.

    Cons

Leadership, for Polymers, utilize force, threats, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressive dominate others. Not a single member of operations senior management practiced any act of integrity. More time was spent at the director levels at trying to hide information or dig up dirt on everyone else than in making any true effort to improve the site. Provide fountains of lip service to what Corporate wants, but behind closed doors punish those who do not comply with the leaderships personal agendas, Have created turmoil in numerous peoples' lives. Work as a team to drum up stories to create scapegoats for their failures. Pathetic and sad all together.

    Advice to Management

Stop being cowards, gain some intestinal fortitude, and either begin doing the right thing or get out of everyone else's lives.
