I have been working at Meijer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A decent company to work for with great people who are always willing to assist

    Cons

Different areas are very silo'd and don't always work in the best interested of the company. This is a result of not aligning expectations across areas.

    Advice to Management

Focus on working on one goal that aligns across the company. Stop patch working issues and focus on a reducing complexity in the number of systems used.

I have been working at Meijer part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good for younger people to get through school. Good benefits.

    Cons

Don't make this your stopping place unless you are planning on moving up the ladder. The longer you are there the worse they treat you.

    Advice to Management

Upper management - Quit showing up announced for store management - they hide everything from you!

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. If they have school or childcare they cannot just reschedule those things with a week or less notice.

I have been working at Meijer part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Certain managers are great. Like at any company, Meijer has good and bad managers. The current manager of the Meat Dept. at Knapp Corner Meijer is a great manager. He wants to see his team members thrive and he has our best interests in mind. He will fight for you.

    Cons

While certain managers are on your side, from my experience, the company as a whole (corporate I have in mind here with HR in particular) does not. I put in 15 years and then I went on educational leave and when I came back lost my Ed leave along with my 15 years of loyalty (which included my pay rate, pension, vacation time). Watch out, they may look to take advantage of you.

I have been working at Meijer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some have a Starbucks inside, some have a bank inside, some have both. The store that I work at is a high volume store so it is fast paced work.

    Cons

Upper management can be hard to work with. No quarterly review to earn a higher wage. Understaffed

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and pay them a living wage.
