    Pros

    Incredibly smart development and service people.

    Cons

    Management was sometimes disconnected from workforce, and more often disconnected from customer needs and the products they wanted.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on customer service to get the most out of the amazing development team.

    I worked at Melbourne IT, Inc. full-time

    Pros

    You get to work with the latest Microsoft technology, and all facets thereof.
    You can work from home occasionally.
    They mandate that you obtain Microsoft certification in your speciality.
    They provide MSDN membership for technical staff.
    You are paid for scheduled on-call rotation, but given time-off-in-lieu instead of overtime pay.
    There is no waiting in line in the womens bathroom. Ever.

    Cons

    This is the worst place I have ever seen for women in technology.
    They have a very complex environment yet provide no training in how to use it (sink or swim mentality). You are not allowed to ask many questions.
    The culture is do "what is right for the company" not "what is right for the customer".
    You should never expect your manager to have your back, unless you are one of the boys.
    They mandate that you obtain Microsoft certification so they can achieve a corporate discount. Training is to be done on your own time.
    Your expected availability is 24x7x365 (mobile phone and laptop provided).
    Their inner team culture is one of competition rather than cooperation.
    If an improvement suggestion comes from the wrong person, it is ignored.

    Advice to Management

    Do not ignore the complaints that staff present. You are ripe for a lawsuit.

    Pros

    Met some hard working and good people.

    Cons

    Lack of management support, lack of growth opportunity and communication throughout the company. It seems management did not take time to care about the employees.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate and listen to your employee feedback. Show that you care about what they say and take the time to promote from within.

    Pros

    Melbourne IT is in a great position to grasp with both hands the opportunity available and realize it's ambition to become the leading digital solutions brand in Australia.

    Cons

    There is a lot to do to take advantage of this opportunity however with clear priorities and trust in each other it is possible.

    Pros

    Lots of growth, cool people, great benefits (gym, coffee, frequent lunches and Friday beers), company is doing some amazing things for their clients.

    Cons

    Heaps of complexity due to lots of new faces and businesses. Systems need investment to keep up with growth.

    Gym Membership, Great team culture, but now a day's more in silo's.

    Cons

    Zero Innovation!!
    Significantly underpaying.
    No progression paths defined.
    Slow is an understatement for decision making timelines.
    Aggressive vision with no structure to achieve it, resulting in frequent chaos.

    Advice to Management

    Invest and nurture your talent & pay what it needs to retain the talent or else, the brain drain will never cease!!!!

    Pros

    Gym Membership, some nice people work here - feel sorry for them

    Cons

    Un-skilled /inexperienced middle management - Pay peanuts - get monkeys
    "Hey - you were the cleaner yesterday - how would you like to do Project Management now"
    Systems are stuffed - brains trust leaving - support scripted with no knowledge and off-shore - Talent acquisition ?? really - embarrassing - You'd think they would at least have "some" talent! and as for culture and vibe - acid/toxic and micro-management on steroids - unachievable sales target with management targets in the clouds - I've worked in at least 10 places - this is the worst - can't wait to move on...

    Advice to Management

    Start working on paying staff fair pay for their work. Fix systems and support so staff aren't stressed ever day. Employ the workers who do something - else you will have no one left to manage or do anything
