I have been working at Melton Truck Lines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I just completed orientation and everything happened just as the recruiters had told me it would be. Be prepared for a long, stressful, information overload week from highly qualified instructors and staff.

    Cons

The two meals provided are box meals so don't expect bacon and eggs for breakfast nor hamburgers for lunch. They are a very health conscious company so be prepared for that also.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing a great job in orientation process

    Pros

One can learn how to be a professional flatbed otr truck driver for sure here at Melton truck lines

    Cons

No room for advancement at all, pay could be by percentage like the company I'm at right now over 30% of trucks revenue and home every 2-3 weeks is just totally unacceptable!!!

    Advice to Management

Offer lease purchase home every weekend and change some of the attitude having seeming kind of racist female Dispatch managers you have!

    Cons

Only real con I have had so far there are some days they are slow to get my next load. Happens maybe once a month.

I worked at Melton Truck Lines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Melton is one of the few companies in the top 1% pay companies in the industry. The equipment is also the best maintained in the industry. I was always respected and treated as an asset to the company. After 6 months of driving, I was assigned a brand new truck. Melton has a liberal rider and pet policy. Company benefits were outstanding and got better with time. I also never had a problem getting the time at home I needed.

    Cons

I did not experience much negative things while there. The only thing that I didn't enjoy much was doing the shorter runs, but that was usually caused by freight trends.

    Advice to Management

Keep striving to be #!1. If you had local or dedicated runs, I would still be there.

    Treat drivers fair.
almost all their terminals have free washers and dryers for the drivers

    Cons

    * worked there for a year and I would stay out for 4 to 8 weeks at a time never once got home the same week that i requested home, even if I requested it a month in advance.
    * Have to tarp every load, even if it is rusty pipe.
