I worked at Melton & Melton full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The partners all had an open door policy and were very helpful even with first year staff. Promotions were generally based upon merit and high performers were very well taken care of. The ability to work in a variety of industries and sectors allowed for professional growth and the development of well-rounded technical skills. Partners were pretty flexible with schedules during non-peak compliance season. Overall a...

    Cons

At the time I was employed the technology and remote working environment, while occasionally done, was not a generally accepted practice.

    I worked at Melton & Melton full-time

    Pros

Full week of on boarding and training paid

    Cons

After initial period management doesn’t necessarily offer constructive criticism, staff either do well or are let go after busy season

I worked at Melton & Melton full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Not many pros, other than the paperless software for workpapers. Great compared to others. Benefits are good if you are single, mostly employer paid.

    Cons

Major lack of diversity, no one is willing to train and help interns and new hires, and there is no direction or vision for the firm for the long term with little to no transparency with staff. They play favorites with each new hire class. If you aren't deemed one of their 'all stars' within the first month, they will basically write you off. No one will want to help train you or get you up to speed with where you...

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. If you hire someone, believe in them and spend time developing them. Fire clients that aren't cooperative or actually make the budget. Communicate!!! Man up and take control of the team you're in charge of. Stop being scared of diversity.

I have been working at Melton & Melton full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Members of upper management (i.e. partners, senior managers, managers) are understanding and truly care for their employees. Supervisors and upper-level staff are always patient and willing to help out and provide feedback to questions from lower-level staff and interns. Family-like office culture with multiple events held every year such as company picnics, Christmas parties, etc. Work/life balance is great throughout...

      Cons

No significant cons to working at Melton & Melton. Communication throughout the various levels of employees is the biggest area in need of improvement but that issue is common at any accounting firm and not at all exclusive to Melton & Melton.

      Advice to Management

Continue to uphold the family atmosphere of the firm as it increases office morale and makes employees enjoy coming to work.

I worked at Melton & Melton full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

I was at Melton & Melton in Tax for 13 years. I thought the pay was fair and competitive with the market. In tax, I had a great deal of face time with a wide variety of clients in a number of different industries. I was very fond of my team and the majority of my clients. My partner was pretty easy going about taking time off outside of busy season. I was able to work on a number of different clients with varying...

      Cons

They were a bit behind on technology but were improving when I left. Work/life balance can be tough to manage during busy season (as is true for all public accounting firms).

I have been working at Melton & Melton full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

My experience with the Firm has been positive. I love the exposure to many different types of client and industries. I like having a well rounded experience and not specializing in one type of industry. I have been with the Firm for many years and one of the biggest factors keeping me here is the people. The Partners care about their employees and make sure they are treated respectfully. All the Partners have an open...

I worked at Melton & Melton full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Good tax experience. Flexible work hours.

        Cons

Where to even begin... First this company does not care about their employees. Majority of the staff and supervisors are severely underpaid. They sell you on overtime, but even with overtime you are making less than industry average. If you’re a staff or intern at this firm, you are just another number. Majority, not all, of the partners just care about getting their returns done on time and getting their money. They...

        Advice to Management

None... they are aware of the issues, they just need to finally do something about it and fix it.

I have been working at Melton & Melton full-time

        Pros

Some of the employees are helpful and easy to get along with. Pretty good client base for a local firm.

        Cons

Awful technology. Pressure for billable hours when can't control client assignments at staff level. No diversity at all. Most of the good employees leave and the bad ones stay and become managers. Very low pay.

        Advice to Management

        Management doesn't accept advice..
