I worked at Meltwater full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    great culture
    great leadership
leaders truly invest in developing young talent

BEWARE OF ANGRY REVIEWS - reviews that claim sexism and bro culture that does not allow women to move up are completely unfounded. Many women were promoted to roles with very high responsibility at an early age. I have never seen so many women under 30 with so much responsibility.

The issue is that sales at Meltwater is not easy. Many people do not make it so instead of just saying "ah it's not for me" they start blaming the company" and post ridiculous reviews.

    Cons

competitive space, must work hard to make sales

I have been working at Meltwater full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture is a draw. Meltwater has great health insurance and employee events such as an innovation day and frequent breaks for drinking events or games. There is also flexibility in working hours and often food is brought in (along with already existing snacks). Startup like feel.On the surface - a great company.

    Cons

The drama. There seems to be a lot of silos and emotionally charges decisions from upper management, which is comprised of mostly sales professionals that have worked there for a few years that - to be honest are not qualified for the positions they hold (from an educational standpoint). This is part of why major decisions are poorly thought out and emotionally charged. If you have strong ideas and like to challenge the norm this is NOT place for you. Management bruises easy from suggestions from subordinates. And although there is a preconception of flexible work hours - the time you take will be marked against you.

    Advice to Management

Try and be more tactful and transparent with ongoing plans. Try and not make impulsive decisions based on little to no data. Also would help to depersonalize feedback.

I worked at Meltwater full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-you learn a ton in your first 3-6mos, professionally and personally
-plenty of opp to step up and deliver results
-opp for growth is high if you perform well and "drink the cool aid"
    -good mgmt if you're lucky
    -young, fun culture

    Cons

-leadership has little to no accountability (and it shows) and are not particularly approachable
-constantly changing infrastructure, goals and methodology (for a 1000+ employee co)
-comp is not competitive with like-companies and for similar roles in the market
-market segment is crowded and pricing strategy makes the product a race to the bottom
-no clear path to market differentiation can make employees feel stagnant
-micromgmt can be an issue depending on your team
-little to no work life flexibility

    Advice to Management

Keep the integrity of the business at the forefront. Build good quality business rather than focusing solely on quantity. Listen to your employees and reward them for their respective work. Trust your employees to get their work done without micromanaging.

    Pros

Great company culture. Friendly, hardworking coworkers.
    Very competitive salaries.
Beautiful offices, especially in their SF HQ
In the era of Startups constantly looking for rounds of funding, Meltwater is a successful, profitable company.

    Cons

More company events, especially in the America's would be appreciated.

I have been working at Meltwater full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I just celebrated 5 years at Meltwater, and couldn't be happier at my career growth and opportunities. I started in the International Management program in our DC Office, and have since got the opportunity to work in Atlanta and now San Francisco. After 10 months with the company I got to manage a team, and within 30 months of starting I was managing my own office. I have learned more in the past 5 years than anything in school taught me!

    Cons

There can sometimes be long hours particularly in the sales department. The compensation and upward mobility opportunities make the long days worth it.

I have been working at Meltwater (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People and culture are great at Meltwater. Everybody is kind and wants to contribute. No politics or conspiracies. The growth of the company has been great and inspiring. The company pays well too and gives good euro-style time off.

    Cons

Too much turnover - in particular in the sales force. No real marketing to help them. Customers are leaving all the time because the product is buggy. Then sales goes out to hunt some more. Not sustainable.

    Advice to Management

Fix the products the customers have been waiting for so long and do some marketing instead of going after way too many projects and getting nowhere.

I have been working at Meltwater (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've worked at Meltwater for less than 6 months, and was warmly welcomed with open arms. I was impressed from day 1 with the organized onboarding and orientation processes in place. My director and team members were very thorough in explaining the Meltwater products and really took the time to ensure that I understood the product, my responsibilities and responsibilities of other teams with in the company, and the company culture.

Working with other members of my team is one of my favorite parts of my job. Although I run many programs on my own, it's always great to know that other team members are there to help and are always willing to bounce ideas around. Our office is definitely a supportive and collaborative environment.

    Other pros:
    - great culture and lots of office perks
    - different teams/department work great together
    - great products that you can easily get behind and support
    - a company and work environment that supports learning and training

    Cons

Meltwater is a large global company - meaning, there's a lot of moving parts. Understanding the company lingo is a bit overwhelming at first, but you eventually get the hang of it. Be prepared to learn quickly.

    Advice to Management

Please continue the great work of taking the time to invest in employees and encouraging growth and learning across all departments of the company.
