I have been working at Memorial Hospital York for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are great, some are nicer than others as with anywhere you work, they offer bonuses a lot in the summer to add extra hours, students only have to work 200 hours a year, they target nursing students hoping to keep them on as employees

    Cons

Mandatory training times are inconvenient for students and requests for fridays or weekends have been ignored, scheduling holidays if you are per diem is a nightmare as you never get the times or days then get yelled at for not having holiday time at the end of the year, clinical assistants are now house keepers for the ED absolutely ridiculous, don't bother calling housekeeping for help (they ignore your calls, take...

    Advice to Management

Hold housekeeping accountable, it is acceptable for CA's to take breaks to sit if their work is done just like it is for nurses, allow per diem employees a pass if they have attempted to schedule holidays multiple times and not been kept on

I worked at Memorial Hospital York part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you are a student looking for extra money this is the job for you. Get the experience working in a warehouse. But if have a family with small children walk away. The job is intense.

    Cons

There is no growth unless someones retired and there will be none. There is a team member that think is the boss and tries to give you orders and call others names. And the word communication does not exist in the department

    Advice to Management

My advice will be communicate and pay close attention to the reason why people don't stay in this job for long.

I worked at Memorial Hospital York

    Pros

loved the people i worked with and all of the patients that was seen day in and day out ! Upper Management was great !

    Cons

A lot of drama ! The department i was in was poorly managed and staff was treated with disrespect and talked to poorly by director... she was very nasty and rude and would not allow a work life balance. Made it necessary to embarrass others and intimidate others. Never backed her employees and felt like we was always beong thrown under the bus. People are promoted based on friendship rather than quality of work.

    Advice to Management

Please be very careful when choosing directors and people in management. Please take a close look at the registration department too many people are leaving too quickly... There is reason behind it, Take a deeper look.
