    Pros

Vacation accrual. Lots of days off and you earn them fast. Pharmacy. Prescriptions are only $5, while OTC meds are only $3 or less. Communication from administration to workforce has gotten much better in the last few years. Majority of staff are great to work with.

    Cons

Obvious favoritism with department supervisors to certain employees. Certain employees can basically do whatever they want without fear of punishment. Pay and staffing. Employees are underpaid and overworked. Night differential pay is nice, but it is only from 7pm to 7am. This is unfair to employees who work evening shifts, which usually runs from 4 to 12.

    Advice to Management

Favoritism is an issue that needs more attention. Complaints about troublesome employees will often go unheard because their supervisors will not take it any further.

I have been working at Memorial Hospital and Health Care (Jasper) full-time

    Pros

Clear mission, values and vision. Friendly atmosphere. Employee perks like pharmacy and discount at gift shop. CEO is approachable and visible presence.

    Cons

Time off is a joke. Penalized for taking time off with sick kid. Focused on meaningless awards. Management is very cliquey. Process driven to the point of blindness to personal touch. Pay is well below competitors, although they hired someone to tell them what competitive was. Salaried positions are busy clawing their way to the top and do not look below to grow those beneath them. They don't realize Jasper is not the center of the universe.

    Advice to Management

Have evaluations tied to advancement or raises. They are meaningless. Rounding is a joke, people are not truthful unless the situation is critical.

I have been working at Memorial Hospital and Health Care (Jasper) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There is plenty of work to keep us busy. They give good VHP time which we "earn" plus 7 holiday pay days. Insurance is good.

    Cons

Lack of communications; dept. conflicts amongst employees; distrust of upper management due to cutting jobs without prior notice of any kind. Many depts. are understaffed and under paid. Supervisors are not doing their job or don't care about "most" of the workers. Many supervisors have PETS who can bend, break, ignore or misuse the rules and never be reprimanded or even talked to about it. "Depends on WHO you are" in the eyes of the supervisor. Will no longer let us use our unused sick time to buy VHP which is really heart breaking.

    Advice to Management

You say you have an open door policy and anyone can feel free to contact you about problems. That is NOT true. You will be in hot water if you go over your immediate supervisor's head even though he/she will not address your concerns or complaints. The more money you make the more perks you get and the more you take away from the peons who are the ones who actually do the work and struggle most of the time. Upper management has NO clue how it feels to be at the lower end of the pay role scale. Supervisors have no clue how to be fair or how to handle animosity or conflict within their own dept. It depends on WHO you are in the eyes of your supervisors that determines if you will be treated fairly or unjustly.

I worked at Memorial Hospital and Health Care (Jasper) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A great organization to work for. Staff are very friendly and easy to get along with. The IT department was some of the best people I've worked with.

    Cons

Departments don't talk with IT enough about upcoming projects. Not enough lead time on upcoming projects to meet deadlines and IT staff suffers. Not enough of healthy choices in the cafeteria. Food is uneatable on some days. Find better cooks.

    Advice to Management

Find a true Project Manager for IT. Someone who would be the go to person for departments to discuss up coming projects and timelines. Someone who would assist the IT staff in meeting those deadlines.

I worked at Memorial Hospital and Health Care (Jasper) part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company has good values. They strive to keep up with the times and keeping a positive outlook. Respectful towards others.

    Cons

It is hard to advance. Trying to work in other departments are difficult. We are told they will hire from within before looking outside the company. A lot of the times, they hire family members of others instead.

I have been working at Memorial Hospital and Health Care (Jasper) full-time

    Pros

Excellent and caring nurses, facilities are nice

    Cons

Management is dishonest and unreasonable, quality is poor and most turn a blind eye to serious mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to move forward and make improvements, listen to suggestions of staff members.
