    Rewarding, but Difficult Position

    Nov 17, 2022 - Care Coordinator
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Being able to interact with patients and their families is definitely the highlight. You develop a rapport with so many amazing people and it really brightens your day. As you progress to becoming a Care Coordinator II, you get the added bonus of developing a rapport with clinical staff based on where you're placed.

    Cons

This position is very taxing - mentally, emotionally, and physically. The hours are long - you definitely feel every minute of your shifts. Work tasks aren't difficult but the volume and expected turnaround time are major contributors to stress. The constant cycle of long days and a high volume of work catch up to you fairly quickly once you're out of the training/mentorship period. High turnover is very representative of this.

My first position in a large institution.

    Pros

-I work with a relatively small team (6 people including myself), which I loved. -I feel as though the work environment is very diverse and inclusive. -Everyone on my team is very considerate and welcoming which I believe reflects the overall institution dynamic well.

    Cons

-Not within my team, but I have heard in other departments that the turnover rate can be high.

Great place for early career development

Nov 26, 2022 - Team Lead, Outpatient Operations in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Tuition reimbursement, great teammates, career development, good healthcare and time off benefits

    Cons

Lots of change from senior leadership- sometimes with unclear direction and unrealistic expectations. Fewer opportunities for growth as you progress in management. Lower base salary for team leads which is made up for with overtime pay (5-10 hrs per week)

    Pros

Good benefits, near a lot of transit options, overtime available (1.5x salary). Full time for me was 37.5 hr, ended up working 50-60 a week.

    Cons

Life is research, research is life

    Top notch compensation

Nov 12, 2022 - Staff RN in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

A great place to work after you’ve gotten your years of experience else where, unless you want to finish your nursing career here. The hospital culture allows for certain “ perks”. For example, neuro ( med surg unit has 1:4 patient patient MAX! IV team for ALL phlebotomy and IV access needs. There is sample staff and ample support for nurses and ancillary staff most days.

    Cons

Lacking diversity in leadership and management positions. It sheds some light on work culture and work environment but indirectly.

    Incompetent Middle Management

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good pay and benefits Really kind and respectful coworkers.

    Cons

Abusive and incompetent Middle Management. They rule with fear and intimidation rather than partnership with employees. We are all master level professionals that are being treated like kindergarten students. They made me regret changing hospitals. Every decision is made without evidence or followup. They require many non value-added tasks throughout a busy day which make it difficult to ever leave on time. They never listen to employee feedback and become defensive when an employee attempts to provide feedback or add an opinion inconsistent with theirs. Schedules for the following week are sent on Sundays. They have no respect for employee well-being. It's been a miserable 11 months.
