    The culture that promotes diversity and inclusion. The fact that it's one of the top cancer hospitals in the world!

    Cons

    There aren't any I can think of! Maybe the salary for entry level is on the lower end...other than that, nothing!

    I have been working at Memorial Sloan Kettering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The best reasons that I have for working at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is the benefits and the way you can excel in the organization.

    Cons

    My down side of the organization is the way how you can loose your job over simple mistakes and how the communication process is not correct.

    Advice to Management

    All employees should be treated fairly not on accusations of older employees and employees that don't like other employees it is not right to take away a male or female livihood just because of false pretense.

    I have been working at Memorial Sloan Kettering full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Visionary and ambitious doctors focused on translating research to provide the best patient care possible. Strong, supportive, diverse, and team-based culture.

    Cons

    Research administration is large, complex, and slow. Staff management policies, payroll processes, and performance reviews need to be overhauled.

    Advice to Management

    Leverage technology and find stakeholders throughout the institution to help pilot special projects in short timelines to bring about effective change in real time.

    Pros

    Great mission statement, benefits, and reputation

    Cons

    Positions often siloed making it difficult to transition to other departments. Not much turn over in desirable senior management positions making it difficult to grow within the institution.

    I have been working at Memorial Sloan Kettering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    * Great work/life balance
    * Generally good people
    * You can get by with doing little work (if that's the kind of job you're looking for...)
    * Great benefits
    * Very, very, very difficult to get fired

    Cons

    * Pretty stagnant in terms of promotions or career path
    * Many mid-level employees view working at MSK as a "job" and don't have a "career". The problem with that is that people simply drone on doing the same tasks they've done since 1980 without thinking about process improvement, technology or automation. There is a lot of resistance to change.
    * Lacking merit based incentives. My area is obsessed with getting to work at 9 am and leaving at 5 pm. This makes sense on the clinical side where coverage and shifts are key but for business administrators - it simply doesn't make sense and ultimately leads to people surfing facebook and watching the clock until they can leave at 5 pm. There is very little incentive to do more than the absolute bare minimum. In fact, new ideas and technologies are near impossible to implement because so many people resist any change or fear learning anything new.
    * Nobody is allowed the privilege to work from home (in my area) which has the side-effect of nobody having the ability to work from home. For instance, if another incident like Hurricane Sandy occurs which closes the office - nobody would be able to do any work without being at their physical desktop computer.
    * Might not get great experience for your career. Most administrators get to work at 9 am and do like an hour or less of work per day because there isn't that much work to do.
    * The flip side of nobody ever getting fired is that good people tend to get frustrated and leave while the less talented stay until retirement just doing the bare minimum. Another side effect is that many managers view outside consultants as the only way to get anything done. Therefore, full-time employees can get stuck with no work to do - or no interesting work to do.

    Advice to Management

    * There are many opportunities to update to the 21st Century in terms of technology or business processes.
