I have been working at MemorialCare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

PTO, paid education, encourage staff to be involved in planning changes within the unit, our voice is heard.

    Cons

No weekend differential, little opportunity to work in-house registry (which really means they staff well, not necessarily a bad thing)

Majority of team members are great. Good benefits and hours.

    Cons

Pay could be better for the job that os expected.

Do not hire staff that have lack of experience. Listen to staff members when they tell you that there are liabilities within the clinic.

I have been working at MemorialCare part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Low staff turnover, Newest, modern equipment, Employee health program with great support

    Cons

Reduction in staff to the bare minimum of ability to do the job.

    Advice to Management

Open your purse strings with regard to staff/patient ratio. Stats do not always reflect the actual workload. Many intangibles are not considered in the stats. These are the things that make it highly unlikely we can give the quality of care Memorial is known for. Seeming importance for the bottom line outweighs logical decisions to staff certain departments appropriately. When one person not showing up to work that day impacts the department negatively so others have to be called into work overtime this is to me cutting the staff too much.

    Pros

My co-workers are amazing to work with. Teamwork is legit.

    Cons

poor upper management that doesn't listen to workers.

    Advice to Management

pay your workers more and higher more workers. cut out the useless spending on motivational speakers and bloated yearly company/employee event.

I have been working at MemorialCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent Team Culture where staff are engaged and inter-departmentally integrated.

    Cons

The executive level management seems disorganized. My hospital is closing because it's on en earthquake fault. Better communication with the city could have allowed for planning of construction so the community would maintain its infrastructure. It seems like the bottom line got in the way of the company Mission.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget your Mission and Values. You are here to serve the community not make us wait for 10 hours to see an Emergency Room doctor like at the trauma center. Waiting on the wall for an hour is also not good for the Fire Department. That is time taken away from other citizens in distress. Losing our little hospital is going to have a big impact.
