I have been working at MemorialCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've been in healthcare in many capacities over the past 13 years. During this time I've worked for and with many hospitals. I've never felt more supported or empowered than I do with MemorialCare. They truly value employees and leadership encourages innovation.

    Cons

The pay is on the lower end of national averages for IT, but the benefits are good and culture is warm.

I worked at MemorialCare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great healthcare benefits are available for families.

    Cons

MemorialCare continues to go downhill. Leadership is focused on "leaning" out departments but with that comes unrealistic expectations on existing staff members and pressure from leadership to implement nonrealistic deadlines and create non sustainable results based on resources. People are leaving like a revolving door. Morale at an all-time low. The selling point of work-life balance and living "the Good Life" with health and fitness is a nice front but doesn't actually happen. It is a cut-throat, cliquey, and unhealthy working environment. Only after moving on to a healthy work environment did I realize how horrible it really was. HR is drinking the Kool Aid and does nothing to support its employees.

I have been working at MemorialCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Helping patients, excellent medical professionals

    Cons

Management is horrible. Favoritism, bullying, hardworkers are overworked and abused, lazy workers get away with bad behavior: excessive breaks, not held accountable. Upper-managemnet and HR are useless.

    Advice to Management

You are losing good employees and hurting patients

    Pros

Good Benefits; PTO, 401K, Health Insurance and Flexible Hours. Usually get Holidays Off. However No room to move up in this company at all. Zero room for career advancement, opportunities or substantial growth unless your friends or family of management

    Cons

Everything. Corruption, conflict of interest. Nepotism. Zero room for career advancement, opportunities or growth unless your friends or family of management.

    Advice to Management

    Start Managing. Stop Abusing Power

    Pros

I worked with some awesome people. The patients were mostly great too!

    Cons

Greedy CEO closed the San Clemente campus, leaving many patients without reasonable access to care. So sad,

    Advice to Management

Don’t be in healthcare in any capacity if you only count the bottom line.
