I have been working at Menards full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

General Managers are awesome to work with. All employees are great and the work is fun if you keep yourself tuned in.

    Cons

General Office does not seem to care about anyone at any of the stores. Luckily they usually stay away.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

    Pros

A good place to reenter the work force. Always work to do. Able to learn and grow if you put forth the effort.

    Cons

    Chaotic due to management turnover.

    Advice to Management

Freight and sales people should work with experienced people for about a week.

I have been working at Menards part-time

    Pros

-Flexable with hours. Helps if you are a full-time student.

-Great experience if you have never had a job before.

-You learn the ins and outs of the company which, helps for a business career in retail or warehousing.

    Cons

-Have to work weekends but, your pay increases $2.50 an hour.

-You do not need a degree to move up in this company. If you you do have a degree, you only get an couple extra dollars an hour. In my opinion, it is not that amazing.

-The profit sharing is nice but, gets taxed heavily. If you are a department manager or store manager, they are the ones who get big profit sharing checks. It takes a couple of years to get a good percentage of the share.

-The cash bonuses you get throughout the year from the company can only be used to buy stuff in the store.

    Advice to Management

Try not to just make people into managers instantly. They need to learn the whole department before they can run it.

I have been working at Menards full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get to meet some cool people. More freedom than a cashier

    Cons

Where do I even begin. They under staff carryouts a lot. Often during times of heavy traffic. They never staff enough people. Often have carryouts do the work that cashiers should do. One time a glass can spilled everywhere. Who cleaned up? me the carryout, I was by myself outside. It seems like they often have too many sales people inside. If there is enough they usually stand around the desk. The often tell carryouts to help guest out even when the person clearly did not need the carryout at all. Worse is they put rail/ flat cart depots in the worst places for us to get to and stay caught . The cashiers never seem to realize just how busy carryouts are. One cashier offers carryouts to everyone, from able bodied customers and to people who really should not be buying this.

    Advice to Management

RELAX & have enough staff for busy times/ days.
