    Pros

Menards is a company that appears to give a damn about its employees and the management staff is all hired from within the ranks. I love my job with Menards, the story of the company is incredible and when I listen to my store manager talk about his career so far I know that i'm on the right track with the right company

    Cons

Slow industry, and while Menard's has never closed a store there are times when the climb seems too tall but otherwise its a great company. There is no difference between a department manager and a long time full time team member except the stress and greater responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Raise base salaries of lower management.

    Pros

The employees at menards are always great to work with. Upper management is always prioritized and is very fair. Friendly but efficient work environment.

    Cons

On your feet for long periods of time which can get a little painful.
Helpless customers that ask questions when they know the answer.

    Advice to Management

Have more specific guidelines for operational organization. Each department should function the *exact* same. Organize, Prioritize, and Delegate tasks the same way throughout each dept.

    Pros

Fairly easy to advance withing the company and work well with your schedule conflicts. Have an internship program which is nice for Business students and have opportunities for advancement after graduating.

    Cons

Since its retail, hours can be long and the store is only closed twice a year, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. But you get holiday pay on most of the major holidays that you work.

Sounds a lot better than walmart pay, made 7.45 for working in back, and 7.75 working on front lines...I wouldnt complain...

    Cons

If you work in retail, you know what to expect, at least you dont get your face spit in on a day to day...

I worked at Menards part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Competitive Pay, Fast Paced, it was something different everyday, Very few tasks that i did not like to do, Hours were always available, Great team work throughout the store.

    Cons

We were always rushed to get things done, many of the department managers were incompetent, poor inventory control, lack of recognition and respect from management lower management, No incentives to perform.

    Advice to Management

Teach managers how to deal with people better. Don't preach safety and then rush someone thats operating a forklift or load selector. Respect and praise your employees more often. Take employee suggestions more seriously. Read "how to win friends and influence people"
