    I worked at Menards part-time

    Pros

ok job for retail. Most customers respect employees.

    Cons

    J. Menard walked into appliance department and because I was unsure of how to write a P.O. for a CEO I got fired. Store manager called me into office and told me I was fired but that he would hire me back in the plumbing department because I was a good employee. Big egos make big mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Value the people who work for you.

    Pros

great hours, great people and great atmosphere.
Works around your schedule and very accommodating to your needs.

    Cons

Works on a point system so if you call off and are sick you are required to get a doctors note otherwise you will get 3 points. 10 points = termination

I worked at Menards full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are opportunities at Menards that will grow your career. Corporate office is the way to go.

    Cons

Can be a lot like high school and sometimes work with people with little or no education, if those kind of people get promoted sometimes they can act like they are too good to learn from anyone. Depends on the store you work at.

    Advice to Management

Don't fall into cliques. Look beyond looks. And do not violate ADA

I have been working at Menards part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Regular hours
    Bonus opportunities
    Always work to be done

    Cons

The rules only apply if you're not a favorite
Management will ignore you if you don't meet their expectations
If they don't like you, they'll string you along through 'additional training', suspensions, and cold shoulders until either you quit or they're forced to fire you
If you're short, don't expect a step ladder to help you reach high shelves, apparently, they can't afford an OSHA certified one or they give you some excuse like 'they're too dangerous'

    Advice to Management

Take your employee's abilities into account or don't hire them!

I worked at Menards part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall good work environment, flexible scheduling, fun coworkers, and many opportunities for advancement and personal growth. Also pay was very good compared to similar jobs in my area.

    Cons

Micromanagement mostly from corporate but also from some department managers.

    Advice to Management

Instead of belittling and nitpicking your employees over little things take pride in their accomplishments and treat them as a valued member of the team. This approach will increase morale and result in increased efficiency and better Guest service.
