I worked at Menasha Packaging full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent job security as long as you show up everyday and on time-because they need all the bodies they can get.

    Cons

Well they’ve basically figured out how to have a legalized slave labor. Swing shifts are awful, the constant overtime requires biweekly 8 hour turn arounds for 8 hour employees. A lot of the work at either comco or the finishing dept. are very hard on your bodies as well. Management is terrible, only a couple of good ones that are good bosses. Then all the corporate policies that they make you jump through are just awful, to either get a raise or get funeral leave or disability if you get hurt or pretty much any other benefit that you deserve and have every right too. And from all the people that I️ know who still work there things have only continued to get worse.

    Advice to Management

Listen to any one of the 300+ exit and stay interviews you tortured us all with and actually do something to benefit your worker and not your corporation. The people with power here do not care about their workers and that’s why they’re all leaving. You work them too hard and don’t make their life any better for it, whether it be financially or in making their work life better for them, and I️ don’t mean putting a lms standing desk on the floor to “be more approachable for the folder-gluer area.” That doesn’t help anyone out there at all, it just makes them feel like they’re being punished, and therefore even more resentful towards the company, regardless of your “intention”. I️ mean giving the 548 a lift table finally so we can all stop wasting time and effort on putting those skids on plastic. That would make a lot of people happy.

I have been working at Menasha Packaging full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

NOTHING is good about this place - Too much wrong for it to ever be corrected

    Cons

I couldn't last a week at this place. My last straw was when they locked the exits to the rest rooms and break area and to the parking lot/long way around to the bathrooms unless you had a badge. More than 50% of people in work area did not have badges (temp workers). Serious SAFETY violation. Workers without badges didn't speak English. Line Leads with badges ONLY spoke English and were "redneck". If there would have been an emergency we all would have had to rely on an English speaking person with a badge to open the door. There were Emergency exits but I am not sure they were accessible/usable either.

    Advice to Management

Please stop allowing for the Line leaders to abuse their power. All of the line leader staff were WHITE and angry people around 40-55 yrs old and they seemed to create an atmosphere there that they all hated and mistrusted each other and then mistreat other people. No visible sign of common sense among the whole bunch. They are secretive about if they are sending us home early and tell us at the latest minute. The lineleaders always lie on the employees and say something was their fault to get out of trouble with management. Way to learn from your mistakes and take responsibility for your actions. The line leaders watch us and don't help the line until something goes wrong. This happened everyday and it's not a coincidence. It's degrading and unethical. I am in disgust with what I saw here. The locking the exits was just the straw that broke this camel's back. I could give more grievances but just suffice it to say this company is not a good place.

    Pros

Good place to learn how to drive a stand up forklift and other skills

    Cons

The list goes on and on...

    Advice to Management

Don't give everyone the same raise and make up a bull reason per person why they didn't get more..15 cents ain't nothing..but a slap in the face.. And me having my picture on the wall doesn't put food on the table...also you better hope you keep Amy in charge of edwardsville location or it's going to crumble into the ground..she among a small handful of others actually did their job and listened to people..the guy in charge of maintainence isn't very bright.. Good luck you will need it..

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Please stop allowing for the Line leaders to abuse their power and choose their friends for work on a line and send everyone else home. Most of the staff are Latino so there is already a thing about how they ignore and mistreat other people. They are secretive about if they are sending us home early and tell us at the latest minute. The lineleaders always lie on. employees and say something was their fault to get out of trouble with management. Because most employees are Latino they get chosen first for everything and its obvious: work on a line, if the line shuts down they stay, they get jobs folding cardboard while everyone else get hard labor jobs. The line leaders watch us and don't help the line until something goes wrong. This happens everyday and it's not a coincidence. It's degrading and unethical
