I have been working at Mendes & Mount full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Users are relatively easy to work with. Citrix environment great for disaster recovery.

    Cons

Micro managing problems with the executive director as well as poor direction and interpersonal skills.

    Advice to Management

Have an evaluation of the Executive Director from the staff and work from there based on feedback.

I have been working at Mendes & Mount full-time

    Pros

People are friendly and generally easy to work with.

    Cons

Salaries and earning potential is significantly under market value for amount of hours worked. Technologies and overall processes quite outdated in multiple respects.

    Advice to Management

Pay competitive salaries, represent yourself as a modern law firm, be willing to think outside the box once in a while.

    Pros

Most of the people were pleasant to work with.

    Cons

Was more of a personal assistant than a legal assistant.

    I worked at Mendes & Mount full-time

    Pros

Mid sized firm with very nice offices north of Times Square. Recent purge of partners left firm a much leaner but more effective size. Pay is comparable to other firms, but slow movement in first 3-4 years.

    Cons

Bonus structure is tied to hours which are difficult to achieve. Little respect shown to first and second year associates.

I have been working at Mendes & Mount full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Mendes has a very nice work environment and the attorneys are all wonderful to work for. Most holidays are observed, which is nice. There is barely any overtime, so you can get home on time. Hours are usually 9-5 or 9:-5:30 which is flexible. There are annual reviews regarding performance, so that is helps boost up work morale.

    Cons

I would say maybe the 15 days PTO (including sick days) is the only disappointing thing.

    Advice to Management

Find out if any admins/secretary is capable of doing more legal tasks than they are asked for. Sometimes someone is capable of doing more (or may want to do more) in regards to the legal areas.

    Pros

Very good work atmosphere and work life balance. All attorneys and partners are friendly and approachable. Young attorneys are given opportunities to meet with clients at early stage.

    Cons

Sometimes the work can be a little boring and redundant. Caseload is based on volume which can be stressful to manage at times.

I have been working at Mendes & Mount full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you get into the right practice group, the people (bosses and same-level colleagues) are great. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement, very low pay, lots of office politics.

    Advice to Management

Seems like you are trying to get into the 21st century, but aren't there yet.
