I worked at Mentor Graphics as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits for contract employees.

    Cons

Poor work life balance and communication from supervisors. Expected the team to compete amongst themselves leading to a feeling of you could be let go at any time.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team and trust their expertise in their job role.

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Great office space
    Flexible hours

    Cons

Most of the people I work with are either in Pakistan, Egypt or India.
Unable to focus on big projects to improve the overall process and advance in the company due the constant changing and bad planning from upper management

I have been working at Mentor Graphics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nice paid time off
    nice offices
    Friendly employees

    Cons

Home office only cares about the main office. Atmosphere changed so drastically that employee morale was low.

    Advice to Management

Show more concern about satellite offices and stripping hardworking people of their jobs

I worked at Mentor Graphics full-time

    Pros

    good pay for Mobile area

    Cons

too many to list. New GM is a hachet man, has run off most of the folks that built the division. Ones he brought in have left. Too late getting into Linux and Android, ignored the customer base that built the company, best people leaving in droves. Haven't hit sales quota in forever. Only Mentor's stupidity to keep pumping cash into this failed endeavor keeps the doors open. You'd find better morale in Hell.

    Advice to Management

Change for the sake of change was stupid. I guess you know that now.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The benefits are great and there is a family atmosphere amongst peers which helps with communication and the learning process. The workers are also very intelligent and friendly.

    Cons

The upper management is disconnected at manly levels. Therefore, there is a lack of direction. If this were resolved Mentor Graphics would be an excellent technology firm to work for, if it wasn't already.
