I have been working at Mentor Graphics (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance. Beautiful corporate campus with abundant amenities. Supportive management truly invested in the success of their employees. GREAT benefits, and the cafeteria is committed to a sustainability initiative and often have local/organic/vegan/vegetarian options available.

    Cons

Employees love it here so much, that most do not leave until they retire! So, the opportunity for advancement or lateral transfers may be lower than other large companies.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. You're respected and admired among your peers, and we appreciate the commitment to your employees and the industry.

    Pros

Large product line of complementary products to support the entire design automation process. Solid company with a good business ethic and quality products.

    Cons

As in all growing companies the sales territories keep getting smaller so each year gets a little tougher to blow away your numbers.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work....

    Pros

Flexible time off/schedules, onsite gym and private offices, some very smart people

    Cons

Run by finance/accounting so people are fields on a spreadsheet
    Stale methodologies and technologies
    Old boys club

    Advice to Management

Time for new leadership starting at the top

I worked at Mentor Graphics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great campus though located far from biggest customers

    Cons

Manage ran the company like a country club for themselves
The company lacks strategic identity - what are they - extraction company, pcb company, emulation company...

    Advice to Management

Give the company a true strategic vision and mission for the next 5-10 years. If the stock price is somewhat a gauge of your success, compare yourself agains Cadence and Synopsys - without the Carl Icahn bump - the company has done nothing .... And with Carl now exiting look what's happening and what that says about your management.

I have been working at Mentor Graphics full-time

    Pros

Location. Work. Management. Daily benefits. Telecommuting. Flexibility.

    Cons

No real opportunities to grow from within. Salary is lower than competition for same/similar job. Bonuses are getting lower and expectations are getting higher. At this rate, it is expected that we will not see bonuses in the future. Training is severly lacking; almost non-existant.

    Advice to Management

Hire management from within. Review bonuses.
