I have been working at Mercedes-Benz International (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some departments are really cool and have really neat projects, but that varies greatly depending on your placement. Also a greater chance to be hired full time if you co-op. Most co-ops actually get the chance to drive a Mercedes which is really cool. I have really enjoyed my co-workers and teams that I have worked on.

    Cons

The Co-op program is not well run. It could really be a great program in my opinion but is not managed well. Sometimes you will be placed in a department that doesn't even relate to your major (one engineering major was placed in finance). Many co-ops do not have enough work to fill their time. Projects can be hard to find in certain departments.

    Advice to Management

Really ensure departments have a plan for their co-ops. Also actually take into consideration the feed back received from co-ops. The majority of us feel that our input does not matter and we might as well not even give any because know one cares.

I worked at Mercedes-Benz International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent co-workers. Lease Car program if you are not a temp.

    Cons

Not the place it used to be. This place has gone from being “Mercedes” to an average car manufacturer. Was better when Marcus Shaffer ran the plant.

    Advice to Management

Run the business based on facts and figures instead of politics and country club mentality.

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Consistent rotating schedule, good pay, and nice coworkers.

    Cons

Not very flexible with your schedule. The seniority system is definitely used, so it doesn't matter if you're more experienced if someone else has been around longer than you.

    Advice to Management

Work with people's schedules. If someone isn't happy on the production line, help them move to a position where they will be happier.
