I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America for less than a year

    Pros

Very nice working atmosphere, Silicon Valley lifestyle without excessive working hours, very nice and open-minded colleagues, adequate salary (considering the rather small size of the company), on-site lunch spot, good car leasing conditions, nice location in the heart of Silicon Valley, chances to travel are very good (mostly within US and to Europe), very cool cars, awesome brand, very interesting topics that matter

    Cons

Mostly international teams, Germans are a little bit overrepresented, Salaries are good, but probably not super competitive, Some communication gaps between managers and emplyees, company structures and hierarchy oriented towards German parent company, sporadic tensions with and within management

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Easy life. Managers disappear a lot. A good place to retire.

    Cons

This is the perfect place to retire. The last standing person automatically wins and becomes the manager and forever becomes part of the power pack. No accountability for bad managers who do not know how to lead people or manage projects. Every team works in silos and no one cares to know what others are working on. Not a R & D center as it claims to be. It's more like a bunch of strangers gathering in the same room everyday while getting paid. Make sure to ask what they have innovated during interview. Hard to get a job after working here for too long because of lack of work of real substance.

I worked at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    * Very good leadership inside Seattle hub. The hub manager has deep experience and clear vision. Team managers are very collaborative. * Great culture. Many young people and over 40% female engineers. * Great work life balance. * Awesome office and sea view. * Good compensation and benefit (including immigration service, e.g. 1 year before green card application) * The cars are getting cooler despite how slow the Daimler as a corporate seems to be.

    Cons

    * Tooling is controlled by Daimler which can be frustrating and limiting. * Communication with German side can be timeconsuming and sometimes difficult.

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Amazing brand and products that lead the automotive luxury segment. -Good perks & flexible work schedule. -You can get cool cars for a great price. -Desire & willingness to improve, yet poor execution.

    Cons

-For being in Silicon Valley, the company is mostly German. -Promotions are awarded based on age/length at the company instead of performance & responsibilities. Performance evaluation system is archaic. -Compensation is mediocre for Silicon Valley. -Rotation of people is extremely high, the ones that remain, are the ones that are tied to the company because of their visas. -There is barely any communication between teams and not much collaboration. -Every decision takes place in Germany.

I have been working at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good cars to drive at cheaper rates. Nice building and snacks (way less than other bay area companies)

    Cons

Recent great reviews are fake and baked by who got the most benefit by CEO or even by the CEO because he mentioned on his first town-hall meeting that he will change the outlook of the company in glassdoor. People reached out to CEO directly with the faith that he will bring the +ve change, and mentioned whats going on internally and how managers are bad in different groups. Interestingly, A manager whose 40% team quit the company in 2017, was promoted by this CEO. HR didn't even do anything. CEO is young and immature for this position, He doesn't have guts to hire someone for VP level position. He is relying on exiting bad managers who don't even know how to build highly productive software teams. I think, CEO is trying to secure his position and making the culture worse. Employees were hoping things will get better and CEO will get rid of those managers who were driving the negativity within the company. Nothing is changed, it got worse now.

    Pros

Brand with great reputation and great range of products.

    Cons

Can't really think of any other than the company size in the US still being rather small. But it keeps on growing

I worked at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America for more than a year

    Pros

    * The company looks good on your resume * All of the free drinks and snacks you can ever want * Some nice coworkers to share your frustration * Possible travel to Europe * Good leases on MB cars

    Cons

    * Workload is extreme. You are expected to work 10 hour days or more and weekends. * Workload is uneven. Some people seem to have it good, reasonable hours, company cars, company phones. Others have heavy workloads with no light at the end of the tunnel * You are expected to make calls all over the globe at all hours of the night * Executive, senior management, and team leads are totally unrealistic about schedules, too narrow focus. More than a few have questionable integrity, self promotion seems high on the agenda * Management just wants to look good to higher management, too much wasted effort and work to show off demos, time can be better used * No real teamwork, just finger pointing and blaming others * Crippling IT infrastructure, extremely slow
