I have been working at Mercer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are nice. My manager is great and tries to allow flexibility in schedule and promote work life balance.

    Cons

Compensation is low. Raises are very minimal. They dont fully fund bonuses. Its very hard to get a good rating bc of the rating bands. If you promote within you get underpaid. A lot of positions are overworked and underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Change the ratings process. Reducing a rating a manager gives their employee because there are already too many 4s or 5s is ridiculous. Appreciate your employees and be more motivational!

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours for those with children, it can sometimes be a fun environment, training for the call center is good

    Cons

It doesn't really matter how hard you work, it depends on who you know and if your manager likes you, internal candidates for advancement receive much lower salaries for external candidates, you are literally overworked and underpaid.

    Advice to Management

When you make someone a manager make sure they know how to help the people they are managing.

I have been working at Mercer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

set schedules, managers try to assist the best they can, decent pay

    Cons

not all managers are there to help you, penalized heavily for slight mistakes, pay could be better for the amount of work done

    Advice to Management

More resources should be available, feedback should be better, if you're going to work the employees they way they are, you should at least raise their pay.

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, pay, and the security blanket of a full time job are the pros.

    Cons

The work is extremely boring and corporate rules make things unnecessarily time consuming and difficult. There is not much freedom as the type of work really doesnt need much. This is an entry level position and a true corporate job.

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are willing to learn and able to perform, you can progress and do so quickly within this organization. They truly do promote from within at the lower levels of the organization. The information you'll gather while on the job is incredibly useful whether you stay with Mercer or not.

    Cons

Pay fails in comparison to the competition. Mercer consistently loses promising talent to competitors willing to pay 20-25% more. Additionally, the "simplifying" and "repurposing" of departments leaves individuals without a clear sense of how their role is defined.

    Advice to Management

Stray away from the "band-aid" culture of quick fixes and sloppy solutions. Be willing to take your lumps in the short term to ensure sustainable success long term.

I have been working at Mercer full-time

    Pros

If you're smart and talented you can gain a lot of experience and beef up your resume. The name of the company is still attractive to recruiters an hiring managers.

    Cons

Salary is ridiculously low compared to competition.

Minorities are severely underpaid and overlooked for promotions.

Leadership is rudderless. They constantly leave employees confused, overworked and poorly developed to justify low pay bumps an average to mediocre performance evaluations.

    Advice to Management

Stop changing direction every 3-6 months. Develop a solid plan, manage it, make corrections were needed an see it through.

Invest in you people and stop promising a high quality of service to current and potential clients. If you continue to not provide your people with a honest pay, modern technology that actually works and a real career path that's realistic for all genders and races you'll only be left with the cancerous management that has been running the company into the ground.
