I have been working at Mercer full-time

    Pros

Flexibility, understand most people are tied to the train schedule
Involve the employees with activities outside of the organization
    Senior leaders interact with employees

    Cons

Some favoritism takes place in organization for prior relationships outside of the organization. Pay not as high as other companies for the same type of work.

    Advice to Management

Recognize employees for the work they do, not who they know. I have been around for quite some time and have found that the management within the organization favors some over others due to personal relationships instead of job qualities. A lot of senior leadership changes at the top of the organization.

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling with remote access capabilities. Nice suburban location close to multiple interstate highways. High quality cafe located on premises. A great place to learn how to effectively manage multiple clients/personalities. Very strong emphasis on employee training and development.

    Cons

Upper management is highly disorganized and borderline dysfunctional. Extremely high turnover rate amongst employees throughout all levels of the Mercer Marketplace line of business. Unmanageable workloads leading to burnout and said high turnover. The environment became very toxic and full of anxiety amongst teams due to lack of communication from upper management. Extremely noisy workspace due to open floor plan which made conference calls with clients extremely difficult and borderline unprofessional. Extremely rigid and ineffective processes in place with no emphasis on improvement.

    Advice to Management

Show transparency and communicate honestly with employees. Listen to your employees as far as rigid, ineffective practices and encourage employees to discover and implement new processes and practices.

I have been working at Mercer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health insurance is a decent price

    Cons

    Where do I begin?
-filing a lawsuit against current employee due to harassment/emotional damage over the last 4 months. HR doesn't take complaints seriously
-They care 100% about the client and 0 about growing the individual
-I thought the first startup company I worked for had a high turnover until I began working at Mercer
-the Culture is terrible, everyone's heads are glued to the computer and the social skills don't exist
-if your family is depending on you to feed them then there is no other reason to work here

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's good work experience for your resume, if you moved out of the call center or never worked in the call center. I also made some of my best friends working here.

    Cons

    - Your pay is a joke unless you are hired from outside of the company. I was underpaid $10k from moving up in the company, compared to an analyst that came from outside of the company. There are thousands of other companies willing to pay you he average salary for being an analyst.
    - Management is a DISASTER. None of them seem to know how to manage people or have the people skills needed to be in their position.
    - Training is not what it used to be when I started. They cut the training for the call center from 4 weeks to 2 weeks. Mercer is not known for having a good call center anymore due to lack of training.
    - Hours are ridiculous, so be prepared to work more than 40 hours a week. I worked a 2 analyst job for 2 years while working around 50 hours a week. The director refused to hire another analyst.
    - You will also get severe health issues if you don't look out for yourself. I know at least 20 people that had surgeries or leaves due to the work environment. This place does not care about their employees well being but they will try to make you think they do at first.

    Advice to Management

You need to make a plan and stick to it. Also, your high turn over is awful, you need to start competing with your competitors in more than one way. Employees salaries should match the job description, and training needs to be longer and better. Companies walk away from Mercer because you don't take the necessary time to train your staff properly and some of the people you hire are really questionable!
