    Positive Outlook

I worked at Mercer Global Investments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

At Mercer, there was a serious learning curve, especially since I was new to the industry. However, the employees there were helpful and patient with me. The hours were great and I really bonded with my workmates.

    Cons

It's hard to make your role more exciting. The growth opportunities were not what I expected, and the compensation was not ideal there.

    Advice to Management

    Employee retention will go far.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Mercer Global Investments full-time

    Pros

Strong growth in AUM. Helpful that it is part of a larger, more diverse corporation that has been willing to commit capital to growth of the unit.

    Cons

Management very secretive. Lots of closed-door discussions and little solicitation of employees opinions regarding strategy. Long-time employees are given opportunities over more-qualified and competent newer employees. Inexperienced executive management that has only really lived in the world of investment consulting (not management) and actuarial number crunching.

    Advice to Management

Actually do something about the politics. Find a way to cut through the bureaucracy. Involve employees in decision making process.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Mercer Global Investments as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is frequent client interaction due to fund manager evaluation meetings. You get experience in many aspects ranging from excel spreadsheets, writing market commentaries, portfolio evaluation, presentation etc.

    Cons

The work is routine at times and slightly political in nature. Sometimes, you feel that it is too slow and would rather work in a faster-paced environment.

    Advice to Management

    None.
