I have been working at Mercer Transportation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great experience awesome coordinator make decent money, very seldom do I sit without a load.

    Cons

I don't have anything bad to say they help me when my truck goes down, check in on me, and keep me moving all while getting me home on a regular.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

I have been working at Mercer Transportation (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay isn't bad but the level of work continues to grow all the time. There are a lot of wonderful people at this company and management is always easy to talk to.

    Cons

Truck coordinators seem to always have the most work. Every other department wants them to do their jobs for them. Also the drivers like to place a lot of the blame for issues on the coordinators

    Advice to Management

Try working on coordinator relations more than contractor relations. If you have happier coordinators it would make doing the job easier and productivity would increase.

    Pros

Good employees and benefits. 8-5 schedule.

    Cons

Management is very underhanded. Not good Christians like they pretend. They prefer to lead by anger and fear.

    Advice to Management

Take anger management and sensitivity classes.

I worked at Mercer Transportation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great assets employee commitment is excellent.

    Cons

Overall the company needs modernized. Some of the independent agents need to retire and allow for growth. The female to male ratio in management is not a fair playing field.

    Pros

Great life/work balance. great people. Kind of easy, which is nice, but also not rewarding...

Low pay. Good for a entry level to gain experience and then move on. No room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Be open to making changes for improvement. Provide incentives. TRAIN your Truck Ops FOR REAL.

I have been working at Mercer Transportation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There really are no pros when a company is dishonest and nothing but smoke and mirrors. One pro was that lovely staff member who was honest enough to take me to the side and tell me the inside or truth as to what was really going on and why I and others were having to beg for loads.

    Cons

I am writing this review so that other unsuspecting O/Os don't get fooled. I apologize to my family because Mercer nearly cost me everything. Mercer is filled with cheap loads, dishonest coordinators, lots of deadheading and sitting for days at a time and favoritism. For those of you who own your truck and are not leasing to own a truck through Quality at Mercer, you are last to receive loads and if you get a load here and there, they pay practically nothing, certainly not enough to cover fuel and expenses or support your family. Quality trucks get all the favortism and are first in line. Last week, 37 O/Os resigned, and their used trailers are in the lot sitting. Knowing the truth, I too have now resigned. I constantly found myself pleading for loads, only to be told that there were none and I would have to sit AGAIN. Whatever you do, boycott Mercer and don't be a victim. There are plenty of other companies, and right now, you, the O/O are in demand due to a shortage in drivers. Know your worth!

    Advice to Management

I have no advice to Mercer. You can fix stupid. They know exactly what they are doing, and they don't care for their O/Os. Shame on you for deceiving people and costing them their livelihood.
