I have been working at Merck KGaA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Safety is a high priority. There is a Good mix of lab work and office at times. But its a lot more office work then I would like.

    Cons

It is very hard to get promotion. Work load can very greatly. Will have to help other departments at times do things no part of you job description

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunities for advancement. Promote from within instead hiring outside people.

I have been working at Merck KGaA (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are decent, a bit on the expensive side for employee. Stable hours, semi-predictable overtime.

    Cons

Sometimes mandatory overtime Saturdays, atmosphere with coworkers is immature.

    Advice to Management

It's worse than high school. There's operators thinking they run the place and treat everyone badly. Results need to be seen when employees are out of line.

    Pros

People, manager, casual atmosphere, stable company

    Cons

Company is acquisition-happy (2 major acquisitions within 6 years) and several changes in leadership has resulted in increase of workload on the employees without commensurate increases in pay for most of us.
