I have been working at Mercury Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working at Mercury Media has its highs and lows, as do all agencies, but Mercury Media is in a special position in the market which allows opportunity for fast growth in your career. The digital side of the business is not as well established as the TV side, which allows digital employees a lot of autonomy to mold and shape the direction of the company. If you are a go-getter with good ideas, they will be heard and...

    Cons

If you do not go above and beyond in your current job, this isnt the job for you. The growth stage of Mercury needs those willing to work outside of their job description to get things done. Being in the growth stage leads to some disorganization and misunderstanding of roles. Office space is a bit limited, specifically the conference room & kitchen.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the employees that are necessary for your business.

I worked at Mercury Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked at Mercury for almost two years. The people I worked with were truly wonderful- always willing to help, answer any questions I may have , etc. I was never questioned or guilted when taking personal time off, which establishes a level of trust that is essential to maintaining employee's happiness. At least once a month, we had catered lunches, birthday parties, etc. It was a nice little perk to look forward to....

    Cons

While all the buyers were certainly talented, the methods for doing certain tasks varied a little too much for my liking between each buyer. Since most assistants are covering for multiple buyers, it can be overwhelming and confusing if their styles differ too greatly. One buyer may like something done a certain way, while the other doesn't like something done that very same way. It's hard to get into a good groove when...

I have been working at Mercury Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are a few good quality people here and you can learn a lot about television advertising.

    Cons

Disorganized I felt my boss was very snobby and unrealistic Turnover high They get rid of talented people easily or talented people decide they’re better off somewhere else The executive team is a joke and management is awful Compared to other media companies they barely do anything (just tv and some radio)

    Advice to Management

Focus on your training and supporting your staff properly. The staff are a big key of the performance of the company.

I have been working at Mercury Media for less than a year

    Pros

I came to Mercury from a top advertising/market research firm. I chose Mercury over companies like American Express, Conde Nast and Facebook because the offer was the best one by far. A few days after I took the offer, I said to myself "what did I just do? How did I take an offer from a no name media agency over places like Facebook? This offer seems too good to be true." However, after 4 months of working here, I have...

    Cons

    - There is a lot of disorganization at times due to the rapid growth the company is experiencing. - Sometimes there are certain issues with transparency and misalignment across teams/accounts, which can add unnecessary work at times. - Office amenities are average. This isn't the "really cool" startup office you might find somewhere else, but amenities are starting to get better as we hire more people.

    Advice to Management

    - Continue to hire top-notch talent. - Be transparent about changes going forward. - Keep allowing employees to gain hands-on experience. - Continue to beef up the office amenities.

I have been working at Mercury Media full-time

    Pros

People are very kind and respectful. Warm relationships across offices. Smart people. Leadership team is raising the bar so lots of opportunity to learn and access to senior people. Opportunity to contribute at any level. After a large holding company bureaucracy, the chance to have an impact and taking more responsibility is exciting. The senior people don't just push work down. They are really involved in the business...

    Cons

The reinvention can be draining sometimes. The double edged sword of the responsibility is that you will get the work you are raising your hand for. Mid sized is lean. There are haters on Glassdoor. The buzz will always be worse in a transformation/turnaround situation as they've had to move out a bunch of people who IMHO were holding the company back. I've also watched good people leave because they were frustrated....

    Advice to Management

Move faster on the infrastructure side. People are still getting bogged down with a lot of manual work arounds. Benefits could be better - not as good as larger agencies.

    Pros

Never a dull moment working here

    Cons

Everything- Treat their employees poorly HR is strictly an advocate for the company and not the employees Several recent layoffs and loss of business Turnover rate is huge This company has the lowest employee moral that I have ever seen

    Advice to Management

Close the doors and stop treating people horribly
