I have been working at Mercury New Media full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The team at Mercury New Media shows a level of cohesion and cooperation that i find to be unmatched in similar companies that I have worked for. The atmosphere and culture, while remaining serious, is fun and friendly. The team places a premium on fostering development and furthering education and celebrates achievements in these areas. Individual team members are given an opportunity to work with new technologies,...

    Cons

There is some inherent chaos that comes with serving and maintaining client's applications and website where priorities can shift quickly and demands can create a certain level of pressure. This is a feature of the business that you would find at any company in this industry.

    Advice to Management

Keep placing an emphasis on people, employees and clients, and crafting quality solutions, and this company will continue to be great.

I have been working at Mercury New Media full-time

    Pros

Mercury is constantly looking to improve in every way, ranging from Employee conditions to the technologies that we use. Over the course of my tenure, I've been fortunate enough to have gained experience in a wealth of new and fun tech, from Power BI, to Angular, to Xamarin, to native iOS development. If you're motivated and talented, the sky is the limit at Mercury, there are no boundaries.

    Cons

Mercury is very serious about Scrum and sprints, and if you commit to a user story, there are high expectations that it should be done. This can lead to some stress as the end of the sprint approaches.

    Advice to Management

Keep finding ways to improve. Keep keeping up with technologies. Keep engaging with clients on a daily basis. And keep writing wicked code.

I worked at Mercury New Media full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I felt that Mercury New Media set all employees up for success by investing in training and allowing time to grow professionally. Mercury has spent a lot of time and energy investing in the implementation of best practices in every extension of the business from the development of software to HR and administration.

    Cons

It is hard to find a con here. The work environment was friendly and professional. Perhaps more could be done to allow for the breeding of creativity.

    Advice to Management

During my employment, the atmosphere of mentoring was a huge incentive for success. Continue taking younger professionals under the wing of the more experienced executives to continue the drive for high performance.

I have been working at Mercury New Media full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

At Mercury there's always something new to work on and something new to learn -- native apps, web apps, CMS marketing websites, intranet sites, and more. There's always work to be done, so you'll never be idle. You'll always be challenged. If you work hard, you'll be rewarded. If you're passionate about development and/or design, and you have a knack at finding creative solutions to tough coding problems, you'll be at...

    Cons

The cons are the other side of the coin for the pros -- you'll never be idle so there doesn't seem to be any time to catch your breathe, and you'll always be challenged so you always need to be on your game and at your best. It's also expected that you'll be putting in extra effort to meet or surpass expectations each sprint (or correct any missed expectations). You're also expected to estimate time for work that you've...

    Advice to Management

The best advise I can give to management would to be to find ways to be more respectful of your employee's work/life balance, and to find ways to reduce employee stress (especially the second week of the sprint).

I have been working at Mercury New Media full-time

    Pros

Have had the pleasure of learning Scrum, a new CRM platform, Office 365 and so much more. Technology is every changing and Mercury is on top of it! Clients seems to be continuously happy with solutions and strategies. Great team atmosphere too!

    Cons

Probably a littl under-staffed, but it's better to be busy than bored! Not necessarily a con, but something to get used to is logging your time daily - billable vs. non-billable like a law firm.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work with employees, keep listening and getting better. Client surveys are great as long as you actually look at their comments.

I have been working at Mercury New Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to try new things. Get to work on many different types of projects. The team is full of great people who try to support each other. Uses well implemented scrum practices to organize work. Learning and teamwork encouraged through work sponsored events.

    Cons

Most of the cons are probably shared by most client services firms. It can be a high stress environment with competing priorities. It can be challenging to provide support for the large number of applications that are out in the field.

I worked at Mercury for a very long time and can honestly say that I have met some of the smartest people in the industry while being there which enabled me to grow and learn a lot as a developer and person. Wonderful place to work. Environment is open and welcoming to creativity and education. Company offers wonderful benefit packages to their employees.

    Pros

They have a stringent interview process and are very selective. Coworkers are helpful and competent.

    Cons

Very poor management and extremely high turnover rate despite their interview process. Management can be unprofessional, degrading and cruel to the staff including yelling, name-calling and purposely setting one employee against another.
