I worked at Mercy Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not overworked, 911 provider for EMS

    Cons

Management revolving door. Micro managing from all angles. No stability in job details. Always getting busy work dumped on you. Treated like second rate unskilled labor. Management won’t budge on wages despite massive turnover due to wages.

    Advice to Management

Outsource interviewing of supervisor to ambulance board. No luck so far doing it the way they have.

I have been working at Mercy Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits most places don’t have like a gym next door.

    Cons

The hiring process is long. And they’re always understaffed!

    Advice to Management

The communication in the hospitality is subpar

I have been working at Mercy Health full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits and lots of room for new hires

    Cons

Staffing ratios and the fact that nurses have to do more roles

    Advice to Management

Lower staff ratios or require RN to do only RN job, not housekeeping and dietary too

I worked at Mercy Health full-time

    Pros

    - Time off benefits for salaried employees is strong
    - Home Office leadership is strong

    Cons

    - The Springfield region, specifically the hospital, has absolutely horrible leadership and the culture is simply toxic. The current executive leadership for the region has no clue what to do. The COO has a marketing background and absolutely zero operational experience, which is clearly felt by the organization. Leadership would prefer to push people who disagree out of the organization rather than deal with reality. Turnover is extremely high and HR leadership would rather take the side of management instead of ever advocating for employees. Managers and executives are more concerned with preserving and advancing their own careers than with developing those they lead. I would highly recommend that you stay away from this organization. It will stress you out and management will never have your back.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up...

I have been working at Mercy Health part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are mostly enjoyable to work with.

    Cons

-Terrible health insurance!! They treat their patients better than their employees.
-They will change your job description and schedule with no notice or even asking. If you are hired for a specific job or schedule DON'T COUNT ON IT!! They will increase your hours even if you are only part-time for a reason- they say they can "flex you to 40 as needed". They will also float you through multiple departments even if you were hired to work in a specific area.
    - It is all about what THEY need and they have no regard for the employees.
-Certain departments have NO UNION so there is no safety or job security.
-Management will completely ignore phone calls and/or emails. I'm still waiting on a returned call from 2 months ago!!

    Advice to Management

-LISTEN to your employees and take their suggestions into account. Most of the time they have a better idea of how to run the department since they are the ones "on the ground" working there!!
    - When you hire somebody to work in a specific area or a certain schedule, STICK TO IT! Don't use and abuse people throwing them all around and changing their hours and job description.
    - Job postings are so vague lately it's no wonder they're having a hard time finding employees to apply... there is no set hours or locations. It's always "Various hours and shifts, rotating holidays and weekends and may float to other departments/facilities". Nobody will apply for a job that they have no general schedule or location.
