I have been working at Mercy Health System (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Prn\Pool position is excellent your work schedule is at your discretion. You work in whatever unit is needed on that shift. As a PCA you assist patients in Daily ADLS and perform vital signs, glucose monitoring ,computer charting,In the Emergency Room you do a lot of transferring patients to and from test and transfer to assign in patient unit ,you also have to work the admission desk and enter labs consults act as a unit secetary .As a Mental Health Technician some days you will be assigned to assist patients to mental health court at another facility.

    Cons

Its not to many cons at the Mercy Hospital at lease I don't get involved.I will say its more activites, lunch and learns, commities for register nurses than any other titles that people hold in the nursing department..

    Advice to Management

Get more activites for Patient Care Technicians,Unit Secetaries ,and Mental health technicians,Emergency Room Technicians.Get involved in paitent surveys.

I worked at Mercy Health System as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Providing patient care and a modicum of autonomy in which to do it were given here.

    Cons

As a per diem employee getting cancelled for a shift--a mere ten minutes prior to that shift--was not uncommon.

    Advice to Management

Listen to all of your employees for feedback-not just administrators.

I worked at Mercy Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love caring for people and the main thing you have a job.

    Cons

There is no promotions there they work you to death and don't pay overtime instead you have to leave early and if and when you do leave early you might get fired.

    Advice to Management

You need to look into HR. they should all be fired. They get rid of the best workers and don't care about PATIENT first.

I have been working at Mercy Health System part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the down to earth people who work at the hospital. Working inter-departmental relationships are easy because every is just like you and know their place.

    Cons

However, working with upper management is kind of a chore. They're concerned with policies and procedures that hinder my job but protects the hospital from potential lawsuits - such is the culture of healthcare.
