I have been working at Mercy Medical Center (OH) full-time

    Pros

It has taught me a lot being here.

    Cons

We get floated all over, we are so short staffed it's truly ridiculous for a hospital. We will have 3 aides on in the morning, but out of the 2 scheduled in afternoon 1 typically always floats.

    Advice to Management

Better staff other floors. We need safe staffing ratios and take into consideration the acuity levels of the patients you send before floating staff.

I have been working at Mercy Medical Center (OH) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can gain a lot of great experience to apply to future careers or professional interests. Most co-workers are generally welcoming to new faces.

    Cons

The pay is absolutely terrible for the work that you have to do. I see a lot of favoritism towards select people. Some people simply are not willing to help one another -- you get the "that's not my job" or "that's not my patient" attitude frequently from other techs that are supposed to be supporting you. More commonly, some techs would rather gossip about you behind your back as opposed to correcting the issue that they're complaining about. A lot of backstabbing.

    Advice to Management

Identify your "gossipers" and eliminate them. If you want to have a positive environment (other than when your workers have their noses up your butt), then you need to get rid of the negative people that do nothing but infest the department with negative attitudes. This goes double for the midnight shift -- the worst group of negative people that I've seen in a long time.

I worked at Mercy Medical Center (OH) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Handing in my resignation.

    Cons

Management (especially on the 10th floor) is pretty much nonexistent. From there, it just gets worse. Sad.

    Advice to Management

Wouldn't know where to begin except to say you need to clean house.

I have been working at Mercy Medical Center (OH) full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I used to love working here until new mgmt is pushing long term employees out for no reason except jealousy.

    Cons

Mgmt let's lower mgmt lie and get away with it. Mercy is not the same Mercy anymore...it's about who ya know...used to be about the patients. Leaving soon because. Mgmt lies

    Advice to Management

Hire within the dept, stop transferring mgmt to other depts..they ruin the dept...keep the family together and stop putting the redheaded stepchildren In charge. They ruin good things. Mgmt needs customer training and classes on how to get along and not backstab your employees.
