Great People, Great Values, Poor Compensation
Oct 8, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Springfield, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The culture and values are what make working there so great. The employees believe in helping people, and you can see it in their actions and behaviors. There is definitely a sense of community.
Cons
They are among the lowest paying employers in town. I constantly levied for higher pay for my staff, but they ended up outsourcing the department and paying the new employees even less! Mercy is in a financial crisis right now, and unfortunately there are layoffs and cutbacks that are hitting its employees hard.

Pros
The culture there is very positive and patient focused.
Cons
Benefits are comparable to similar hospitals in the area.

Feb 11, 2021 - PhysicianRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Beautiful building and lovely grounds with a gorgeous chapel onsite and spiritual reminders everywhere.
Cons
Culture is unfriendly and without real trust. Witnessed nurses being let go and undergoing major salary reduction as well as some unfair treatment of physicians who were let go with little warning.

Mercy Rehab Hospital St. Louis is a great place! 5-Star!
Jul 19, 2019 - Administrative in Chesterfield, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
We are like a family! Providing 5-star patient care is at the core of everything we do. The positive culture and welcoming atmosphere is tangible from the moment you walk in the door. Great place to work and to receive stellar care.
Cons
Working longer hours sometimes occurs.

Overworked, Understaffed
Oct 22, 2022 - Registered Nurse in Springfield, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Decent salary, incentivized overtime (they keep reducing the pay though), decent benefits. If you work with a good team, you’re just about Golden.
Cons
1. More travelers than core staff. 2. Dangerous nurse to patient ratios. 3. New hires deal with bullies. 4. Management doesn’t seem to care about actual concerns from staff, just patient satisfaction. 5. Underpaid for the job requirements. 6. Licenses at risk. 7. Clique-ish and exclusive culture.

TOXIC, OUTDATED, CORRUPT Employer - Do Not Waste Your Time at Mercy
Apr 25, 2023 - Office Admin Role in Saint Louis, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
NONE. I listened to a recording an employee showed me of one of my managers screaming and cursing at a past employee. The employee quit and the manager was never corrected and became my manager. I was shown this recording by another employee first hand and told that certain leadership at Mercy have been recording each other and their conversations for years to use against each other. TOXIC behavior and culture is just the beginning of Mercy’s CRAZY and CORRUPT issues.
Cons
1) Admin/Office Managers and Leadership are outdated, mgmt. have worked at Mercy too long and the culture is stagnant. There are many retirees that for some reason are my grandma’s age and hate Mercy but they stay and cause a ton of drama and have 0 technical skills that are applicable in 2023. Why are they managers? There were a lot of either uneducated or unmotivated people who do not know what they are doing and it reflects in the high turnover of employees and all of the negative reviews. 2) All projects and training processes were completely mismanaged from day 1 by my manager. very poor management skills shown by my manager via a lack of general education and knowledge even after working here 15+ years. Severely lacked technical skills, very poor ability to communicate, manager was insecure and aloof, co-dependent on a retired go-worker to advise her, and threatened by my better skills as an employee. Management acted shady and unprofessional, caused issues interpersonally but also with accuracy and productivity. HUGE disappointment. 3) CHEAP. Pay is basic, healthcare is basic, 401k is basic, pension basic. Not worth the hassle of the above to work here. Try SLU or WASHU, done come to Mercy. 4) IT issues happened almost every week and were not minor but major issues across the hospital. Internal and external portal, and tools always had glitches and were not working correctly. 5) see above I listened to a recording an employee showed me of one of my managers screaming and cursing at a past employee. The employee quit and the manager was never corrected.
